Bought this for cheap when i sold the bmw, im in school so progress will be slow for a bit.
The car was sold cheap becoz the manual transmission is faulty ether completely broken or just a simple clutch bearing

Info about the car
Its a 2000 Model
2.0l Manual :D
driven 174 thousand KM

NOTE a bunch of picz in this thread are just to show you whats diffrent with the jdm like pics of fuse boxes and so on.

I think its safe to say that im the only member with bot JDM and USDM galants at the same time so im when im fiddling with the car i can dell what will and wont fit the usdm car

bought it like this didnt start becos the fuel pump wouldn't run then it magically reapers it self

I will admit this the only reason i bought the car now is becoz i was given a chance to rip out a leather interior out of a jdm and i just couldn't pass that up but i had nothing to put it in so i bought the car ( it had bin on sale for a couple of months now)

http://i1193.photobucket.com/albums/aa357/palmz1/2014-04-27162348.jpg (http://s1193.photobucket.com/user/palmz1/media/2014-04-27162348.jpg.html)
trolly full of interior shit

Im not going to be using all of it since i want to blend more black with the tan interior.

My Baby g and the new one

here is a pic of the old interior
http://i1193.photobucket.com/albums/aa357/palmz1/2014-04-27152852.jpg (http://s1193.photobucket.com/user/palmz1/media/2014-04-27152852.jpg.html)

I noticed that if you would buy jdm or eudm interior for a usdm galant you would have to fabricate the bolt on points for the rear seats the front seats would fit tough
also the jdm rear seats tilt forvard like this unlike the usdm wich only tilts one back
http://i1193.photobucket.com/albums/aa357/palmz1/2014-04-27170849.jpg (http://s1193.photobucket.com/user/palmz1/media/2014-04-27170849.jpg.html)

i could have changed out the stock in between the doors for a tan one but i found this to be a little more stylish
http://i1193.photobucket.com/albums/aa357/palmz1/2014-04-27211714.jpg (http://s1193.photobucket.com/user/palmz1/media/2014-04-27211714.jpg.html)

also here is a little known fact.. the tweeters on the mirrors are bigger than the usdm ones also mid range tweeter in stock speakers
http://i1193.photobucket.com/albums/aa357/palmz1/2014-04-27192421.jpg (http://s1193.photobucket.com/user/palmz1/media/2014-04-27192421.jpg.html)

little things like this that show the car is built with a bit more attention to detail than the usdm ones plastic cap over the screw in the door holder thingy
http://i1193.photobucket.com/albums/aa357/palmz1/2014-04-27201918.jpg (http://s1193.photobucket.com/user/palmz1/media/2014-04-27201918.jpg.html)

now to a thing i find verry annoying about the car if you notice the seats, The center line isnt centered you arent suppose to sit centered in it like the usdm car but im a big man and for me it feels as so the steering wheel is a bit to the right witch annoys the fk out of me i like sitting and driving my usdm car much more... i dont know how to say it but it just fits better..
http://i1193.photobucket.com/albums/aa357/palmz1/2014-04-27211739.jpg (http://s1193.photobucket.com/user/palmz1/media/2014-04-27211739.jpg.html)

also the leather door cards are more tight on the usdm galant which i like not flappy like in the jdm.. .... ( I like my door card like I like my women tight)

fuse boxes are different
http://i1193.photobucket.com/albums/aa357/palmz1/2014-04-27150149.jpg (http://s1193.photobucket.com/user/palmz1/media/2014-04-27150149.jpg.html)
http://i1193.photobucket.com/albums/aa357/palmz1/2014-04-27152910.jpg (http://s1193.photobucket.com/user/palmz1/media/2014-04-27152910.jpg.html)

Engien bay verry welcoming of a vr4 swap ;P
http://i1193.photobucket.com/albums/aa357/palmz1/2014-04-27150134.jpg (http://s1193.photobucket.com/user/palmz1/media/2014-04-27150134.jpg.html)

Now to the thing i HATE most about this car.. you cant google shit about it most of the results especially the top ones on google only show USDM cars and when im trying to look for something that is not the same in both car its a bitch and yes i tried to type JDM or eudm stuff like that, and the forum community sucks verry inactive

also the jdm and the eudm galants seem to be more prone to rust than the us spec i noticed this a while ago driving around i would notice the galants and soon be able to recognize from far away if it was jdm or usdm just by the big front bumper on the us spec car. rust on the jdm and eudm cars is always on the fender around the wheel but the usdm cars seem to only have rock chips on the hood there are exceptions of course.
This car is a bit rusty and dinged to make it onehunded i would have to buy me some front fenders front bumper fog lights drivers side door and fix the rear fenders

PLZ READ THIS: i need to know how to open the drivers side door its stuck closed and i really dont want to ruin the inner door panel my guess is that the metal rod that goes to the handles got loose when i was installing the door card or something
any awnsers to this as quik as posible would be nice

I hope you guys enjoy this project as much as i do

For the driver door, the inside handle isn't working at all? Best bet without ruining anything is probably taking the screw out of the inner door handle and seeing where the pull rod is disconnected and try to get it re-attached.

I'm jealous you get to choose from either USDM or JDM! That's awesome.

Also post your items in the for sale section =) We love JDM stuff. I already have chrome handles though.

I started the dreadful procedure of getting the bearing out of the transmission

Well this is how it all starts isnt it?

Every little thing was rusted stuck the brake rotor it self took way to long to get of.

shifter cables you can see that the bushing is torn to shits
but at this moment its more important to fix the gearbox and put it back together. worry about the rest later

But this is the only damage i can see, not really sure tho if its actual damage it looks like it could be factory machined dont know why tho. :087:

Magnet before. (already took 3 metal chards of it)

After :) i know it needs to be wiped off just a little more before assembly
http://i1193.photobucket.com/albums/aa357/palmz1/2014-05-03162306.jpg (http://s1193.photobucket.com/user/palmz1/media/2014-05-03162306.jpg.html)

The loose input shaft did this. its the thing that holds the clutch bearing on the input shaft. (not sure what its called). this will not be replaced im told it doesnt matter all that much.

i had that same issue with my eclipse trans. as far as not knowing what engine you have, look on the block. there should be a stamp behind the exhaust manifold with the engine code on it. its prob covered in grease or rust, just have a small wire brush, brake clean and a rag handy.

Here in 'Merica we can get metal bushings to replace the rubber ones. One place is called SpeedSource and the other is in Canada, TWM Performance. I have no idea if the USDM and yours has the same shifter cables, looks like the same setup.

Yeah i heard this is a common bearing to go in mmc trans, and ill look on behind the exhaust see if i cant find it :)

Is there any reasion i should look for metal ones instead of rubber ones? dont they just make more noise and rust?. Maybe faster shifting?

They won't break like the rubber ones and they make shifting direct, it takes the slack out of shifting. Also metal shifter base bushings would be good to add too, same reason.

The cable bushings are brass, I sprayed mine with some WD-40 rust prevention over a year ago and they still look brand new.

http://i1193.photobucket.com/albums/aa357/palmz1/2014-10-09115049.jpg

Today started like this;
http://i1193.photobucket.com/albums/aa357/palmz1/2014-10-10084040.jpg
The camera doesn't do it justice but the sun is completely red and its about 8;30Am just thought it was cool

Finished cutting out the subframe bolts as i need longer ones 140x12mm in the back and 80x12mm in the front and i think the middle bolt is just in the way
http://i1193.photobucket.com/albums/aa357/palmz1/2014-10-10111930.jpg (http://s1193.photobucket.com/user/palmz1/media/2014-10-10111930.jpg.html)

i wish i could say that i cut it like that on both sides but like they say practice makes perfect so this is the side i started on;
http://i1193.photobucket.com/albums/aa357/palmz1/2014-10-10111832.jpg (http://s1193.photobucket.com/user/palmz1/media/2014-10-10111832.jpg.html)

these are the location of the bolts "B" gets removed "A" Needs to be longer 140mm and "C" needs to be put in 80mm bolt
Imma steal this image from eclipsh hope he doesn't mind;
http://i290.photobucket.com/albums/ll270/eclipsh/rearsubframebolts.jpg

Had to make a square washer for the bolts so they dont turn inside the frame these are the bolts that go near the front of the car http://i1193.photobucket.com/albums/aa357/palmz1/2014-10-10153253.jpg (http://s1193.photobucket.com/user/palmz1/media/2014-10-10153253.jpg.html)

painted;

Welded a plate over the bolt so it doesn't go up if pressed but forgot to take a pic

Also made a square washer for the rear bolts... they are made for allen key becouse orginaly i was just going to have a hole to fit the Allen key but i scrapped that idea

okey so yall just send me a 72/74 manifold for free and ill check it out lol :D

i also dont have any hard data that the 6a13tt manifold has bad flow but looking at the oem intercooler pipes it would not suprice me.

i was also thinking of checking if it would fit maby a outlander or pajero throtle body would fit.... (just a thought have not looked into this at all)

I answer this here, so we keep your build thread rolling :)

I looked into it years ago and I don't remember the result, but there's an easy way to find out if a 6g7x upper mani will bolt up to a 6A13 lower - just order a 6g72 gasket. The 72/73/74/75 SOHC uppers all bolt to any of their lowers.
The 72GT mani would be sure a waste of time, the 72GTS might be ok, but a 74 Diamante is where I would start, and it would also allow you to benefit from the 65mm Diamante TB. Turbo Outlanders have 60mm and are drive by wire, not sure about the Pajeros but even if it's cable driven it will not be bigger than 65mm. If that is not enough, I have two extra Q45 throttle bodies :)

Well i started making the exhaust a couple of weeks ago, i wanted to keep it looking sort of oem just stainless and electro polished went for a 2.5" since it pretty close to the original size and i fellt going to 3" would just a waist.
What i needed was the catalytic converted and everything behind that, really didn't feel like buying a cat so i made my own;

Sorry some of the pictures are shackey and in allot of them the pipes are dirty had to test drive the car a bit

its there just so the car can get registerd they dont know whats on the inside but since i had the opportunity i decided it would be nice to put in a net just to deaden some sound

The silencer is iirc 4.5" pipe 2.5" in and 2x 2.5" out thought about doing 2x2" out and honesly it would have bin ALOT easyer to make but didnt fit the look as nice from the back i think the 2x2.5" pipe fill up the holes in the bumper alot better
I also thought of makeing it 3inch out but it didnt fit the look i was going for

(btw there is about 4cm space from the two pipes to the cylinder)
http://i1193.photobucket.com/albums/aa357/palmz1/2015-01-10170853.jpg (http://s1193.photobucket.com/user/palmz1/media/2015-01-10170853.jpg.html)

Ok now for some technical info
The four pipes you see at the back of the car are cut with 11° degree angle ( I tested ALOT of angles) and on each side they outer pipe is 1cm shorter than the inner pipe (alot of thought went into this as well ) now they kind of flow with the angle of the bumper
http://i1193.photobucket.com/albums/aa357/palmz1/2015-01-09170132.jpg (http://s1193.photobucket.com/user/palmz1/media/2015-01-09170132.jpg.html)

btw for some reason the car only smokes from the right pipe when idling, I think its because its shorted distance for the exhaust to travel
http://i1193.photobucket.com/albums/aa357/palmz1/2015-01-10164916.jpg (http://s1193.photobucket.com/user/palmz1/media/2015-01-10164916.jpg.html)

Little update since im sick on NYE
beasicly when i got back from Norway i started doing some electrical work to get stupid stuff like heated seats working. to much trouble if you ask me.
http://i1193.photobucket.com/albums/aa357/palmz1/2015-10-25%2015.33.35.jpg

I put the battery in a Marine box and made a bracket for a main switch came out good i can reach the switch from both the back seat and from inside the trunk

http://i1193.photobucket.com/albums/aa357/palmz1/2015-11-19%2020.13.37.jpg

Then well then i started doing something stupid. i cut a big hole in the trunk
http://i1193.photobucket.com/albums/aa357/palmz1/2015-12-15%2020.50.33.jpg
http://i1193.photobucket.com/albums/aa357/palmz1/2015-12-15%2020.50.38.jpg

I did this because i want to fit the aluminum gas tank there so basically there will be a sheet-metal covering the hole and the tank will be underneath

bought some 3mm thick aluminum plate and got to work

http://i1193.photobucket.com/albums/aa357/palmz1/2015-12-25%2011.52.27.jpg

Now i could stop posting photos here and tell yall im the best welder there ever was and im able to weld everything. thats simply not the case i chose aluminum because i need to practice working with it so this gave me the chance to do so. So here is a photo with a bunch of ugly ass welds but i can say the defiantly got better.
http://i1193.photobucket.com/albums/aa357/palmz1/2015-12-27%2016.05.07.jpg
anyway i got sick little before new years and have yet to finish the tank not much left tho

Big bro was a champ overseas fully loaded or not the gas gauge didnt feel a diffrence drove trough 3 country's at about 130-140 kmh fully loaded and he didnt even break a sweat average consumption was 8.4L/100km which is about 29.4MPG I couldn't be happier with this little beast
http://i1193.photobucket.com/albums/aa357/palmz1/2015-08-28%2014.12.24.jpg
People ask me all the time if i'm going to sell it when i finish the vr4 and i always say NO manly because the vr4 will never be finished and its simply not worth it to sell a car for less than 3000 USD just to have to buy another daily that might brake down all the time.

Also i got a dog hes a German Shepard purebred but one of his ears tilts to much and im told he cant compete like that.. i think it makes him so much cooler and different from all the other German Shepard out there.
http://i1193.photobucket.com/albums/aa357/palmz1/2015-10-22%2020.06.16.jpg
