Just bought a 2000 Mitsubishi Galant and its been shutting off on me while I drive, i take it to the side wait a while then it starts again. I think it's the fuel pump but then again I'm not and expert. Any advice would be appreciated it, thanks

Not much info to go on. Moderator may move this to another location in the form. Check your catalytic converter. If it is old and clogged it is like a "banana in the tail pipe". If there are any other symptoms it might help us narrow it down.

Okay well it all started after the cops pulled me over and towed my car illegally. The car turns on no problem. The only codes posted up is P0400 and P0442 and it's the EGR and vape something. I took it to the mechanics and said that wouldn't cause the engine to shut off randomly. I turn my car on and idle for 20mjns and it shuts off. It starts again but the engine doesn't turn over. Please help, I took it to another mechanic and they said $100 just to look at it and more money after.
