Okay here's the deal.. I own a 8G Galant and for the life of me can't figure out why Mitsu left the "useless" space beneath the a/c controls. Try putting something in there, and watch it fall out as you take off from a stop. Does Mitsu make a Tape/CD player combo? This would take up the top 2 slots, and the a/c controls can fill the lower slot. Has anyone done this? Any suggestions would be appreciated..

There are a few peeps who have shifted things around. Some put gauges in the open space and some moved the stereo and ac controls down and put gauges at the top. Others installed equalizers in the empty slot, switches for lights and stuff, or even a neon tube. There is also a custom piece that was made by Dave@SE which he sold to Jaydeeone. It has regular slots at the top and bottm, but in the middle, there are two small openings for two small tv screens.

That is the phatest center console I've seen so far!!....Yours looks real nice too Dragon. Was it a pain to hook up sensors to the appropriate gauge?

:?: Also, do you know if Dave@SE is still making those center consoles?

Those two setups are very nice. New G, what I did for the time being was use my old thin mousepad and ripped the cloth part out and flipped it over so the bottom part of the pad is now facing up. Cut them out to the size of the storage compartment and i'll guarantee you nothing will coming flying out. My lighters and gum and cigarettes used to come flying out when i accelerated or made a sharp turn. It's not show quality or something you would want to floss to others but it'll help keep your belongings in place until you find what you want to do with the compartment in the future. If you don't want to go the cheap way Officemax has the non slip mats especially designed to be put on top of the dash. It's about the of a mouse pad and comesin red, blue and black. I believe it's around $10-15 bucks.

The only sensor I had to worry about was the oil pressure sender. It only took about 5 min to reomve the switch and put in the sender.

Man, you guys ROCK! Thanks for the pics, and the "mouse pad" suggestion. TV monitors? who woulda thunk it? Incredible. Definitely leaning towards the guage setup or equalizer. Thanks again

That console is one-of-a-kind. Dave@SE made it for himself, but got tired of it and sold it. The middle part with the triple diamond star and tv's was done with fiberglass. The stereo was also fiberglassed in so it was a perfect fit with no spaces around the sides. Anything you want, I'm sure Dave@SE will do for you too. Just contact him. All it takes is money.

in 1999 the 8g galants were available in a cassete player. an optional cd player was stored in the bottom slot. the center was always for AC controls. also for all teh 8g galants, there was an optional in dash changer and that also went in the bottom slot.
