Ok my friend (has a 2002 I4) was at a performance shop looking to buy a set of 18s, and the guy working there that 18s wouldnt fit on the I4, only the V6, because the suspension is different....is he full if crap?? I have seen plenty of I4 8gs with 18s

BS, the suspension has nothing to do w/ it. Its all about the tire size and offset. You have to kno the correct tire size and off set so no rubbing occurs. Dave@se has 19's on 8g, and its drop Progress, 2 in all around, and he has no rubbing.

Im not sure on the right size and off set but some one that knows a bit more can answer that. Good luck.

Sometimes I wonder where shops make up their excuses.
In between this post and the other one that says it takes 8 hours to install springs, its a miracle that these places stay in business.

Stock wheel offset is +46mm. Stay as close to that as possible. The most common offsets that rims come in which will fit the 8G's are +45mm and +42mm.

The best tire size for 17's would be 225/45. The best tire size for 18's would be 225/40. And the best tire size for 19's would be 225/35.

I have 18"x7.5" rims with a +42mm offset and 225/40 tires.
