Hello,

I'm very new in the Galant word.

I just bought a 1999 Galant with the 4G63 2.0l engine. It had a broken timing belt, and I so had it for a very good price. Timing belt has been repaired, valves changed, etc..., and the engine is really working fine.

I'm using this car for 2 weeks now, and everything was OK.

Though, last week, she started acting weird on it's Automatic transmission. Only when cold, especially upon 1st start on the morning, malfunction lamp ligths ON (sometimes it doesn't) and the transmission does the same as if it was slipping. All gears go normal, the car accelerate and shifts if I don't push the pedal too hard.
Then, after, let's say a 500 meters run, less a kilometer, the transmission comes back to normal, no more malfunction lamp.

Any idea of what's going on? I haven't been able to read any possible DTC stored in the ECM, as my scanner can see the OBD-II connector, but doesn't succeed in establishing a communication with the ECM

A trans rebuilder bets it might be a seal leaking.

Could Lucas oil Transmission fix be of any help?

Problem solved: a failing TPS was the culprit.

Change the sensor, no more MIL ON, and trans working perfect, absolutely no more slippage at cold.

I love this car :054:
