My birthday is on the 29th and my wife wants to buy me something for my car...AEM CAI or exhaust. So tell me, what do you guys think will give me more HP and better sound?

If this has been asked before, forgive!

So you think that the CAI would be a better investment then the exhaust? I though the same. It isn't seen and when I add the exhaust, it will be better.

I heard that the Injen might rub the battery.

Only the old style injens rub the battery. The new style and the CAI won't have any issues.

the old style of Injen would rub....but the new ones they have come out with since i think last year... they dont rub! they have a good clearance!!

yea every1 is right, unless you buy a used injen intake, chances are really slim that you will get an old style intake.

as for what your wife should get you, i think i'd go with the intake. its a much easier choice. the intake will give u some power and some sound. the exhaust will more than likely make more sound than an intake but choosing the perfect muffler can be a long and expensive process.

if you are set on a muffler though, i'd go with the exhaust since muffler plus install will likely cost more than an intake.

My beautiful wife just called and told me that she is going to get me my CAI (I was set on then AEM, but is the Injen better?), exhaust and my tattoo (she got me one last year for my 30th).

OK, Give me some solid feedback on AEM vs Injen CAIs and muffler/exhaust. I heard that AEM had better increases, is this true? The muffler I was looking at is the htmBosal Brospeed (https://www.olyonline.com/Xmas ('https://www.olyonline.com/Xmas').). Give me some feedback please... https://www.thegalantcenter.org/style_emoticons/default/smile.gif

There will always be two camps. In my opinion, AEM is overpriced for the gains. You'll be seeing about 7 whp max...if you see it. On our automatics you're more likely to get 5 to 6 whp. But...AEM is a known quality brand except for the rubber boots cracking. Injen has inconsistant build quality. Sometimes they're really competitive, other times it's trash. AEM supposedly gives more power down low while still able to pump out the power up top, while the Injen is less effective in the mid-range. There have been independent dyno testing by both Celica and RSX clubs...neither brand seems to win all the time. Sometimes the AEM is shown to be better, other times the Injen provided more gains. It all comes down to price I guess. The ideal cold air intake in my opinion is like Dinan's for their BMWs -- heat insulated pipe wrapped in carbon fiber. AEM, Injen, and K&N cold air kits heat soak like a steel mill, not a very good design. Plus they don't relocate the MAS like Dinan does, so it still gets hot, giving falsely warm air readings unless your car is moving at highway speeds to cool it down. Your choice of muffler is a fine one. Bosal is a good name.

Hey, thanks for your kind words. I guess I'm going to get the cheapest and what ever I think looks better. Prob the AEM...

As for the muffler...I'm gonna go with the Bosal Brospeed.

OK, here is what I've found. I'd like to order today, but I'd like to see if someone knows of them cheaper:

AEM CAI (http://www.importhorizon.com/aemintakesmitts.html# ('http://www.importhorizon.com/aemintakesmitts.html#')) - $221 w/ $10 ship
AEM CAI (http://www.autocarparts.com/cart/index.php...e=1054734367125 ('http://www.autocarparts.com/cart/index.php3?unique=1054734367125')) - $220.91 w/ $13 ship

I thought I had found it for $209 somewhere...anyone?

I think that's about as good as they come. Few that are lower than 220. I only got mine for 190 overnighted because of a groupbuy.

Well, I bought the Borsal BorSpeed 247-210 (https://www.olyonline.com/Xmas.htm ('https://www.olyonline.com/Xmas.htm')) and had it put on last night. All I can say is "Oh my God!" That thing sounds so good! No Honda lawn mower, this thing sounds like a V8 when I stomp on it. Not to mention the tip looks nice coming out the back end!

For those in the New Orleans area, I found a muffler shop in Mandeville that will redo your exhaust, back to the headers, with 2.5" (he said 3" was overkill) and a 3" high flow cat (the cat is $180, I get the brand/name and repost) for $300. He is the guy that put on my muffler. He does GREAT work! https://www.thegalantcenter.org/style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif I planned on doing this...but my wife booked a cruise for our anniv.

Just thought I'd give an update.
