is there a whole lot of modifications needed to make the shogun fit.

describe fit. i mean you just just mount it and then call it a day. or you can fill in the gaps with something or you can do the whole jdm headlight swap...its as hard as u want it to be

other than the headlights gap should i have any probs.

u should be str8 unless u got like the official cruz front end from japan. in that case u would have to put new mounts. i believe the erebuni shogun comes with us mounts on them...not 100% sure
