Just wondering what everyone thinks about my ghetto intake. I learned this little trick from a tutorial from these boards. My car sounds incredable. I drove it around after installing it, for like 10 minutes. And everytime I would floor it, whoever was on the side walk would turn their heads (probably expecting a Cobra or something). In one old man, stopped and pointed at my car to his wife, while I floored it.

Performance wise, I dont know if it's placebo, but my car seems to have a bit more kick to it.

Also, the really low sound would be made when I hit the higher RPM ranges (5000~6000). Are if I downshifted to L, and floored it. <Great way to make a nice sound off the starting line.

Here are the Pics:

The first one is after I broke the scew that held the Air Filter hose to the big black tube. The second pic you will notice that I have a new screw (thanks to my neighbor who teaches High Speed Driving). But to hold it down, I have to use metal wire. I need a way to secure better.

Heres the website:

Just finished reading through again, and noticed that it says that I have to reset the computer. I never did this, and it still seems to do everything they said. And also, how exactly would a computer know automaticly how much air is going to come in, if it is disconnected.

Edit: I guess thats why you reset it.
Should I go do that right now? I dont want to reset the Radio.

good start jet, i had the same thing for about a year.....it may be ghetto and it may not give u any gain but it sure does give u an extra roar under the hood........actually i just got a new cai and i was looking to sell my K&N filter that i had w/my intake on a budget tutorial. It's a little dirty but u can just buy a cleaning kit for it at any auto store. I'll let it go for $35 shipped. (thought i throw a sales pitch, since it went along) just tell me.

Thanks man. This store has it listed at 40$ new. I have no money (thats why I have the ghetto CAI https://www.thegalantcenter.org/style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif). You might wanna try Ebay.

glad u like the CAI. i did the typical 7G tutorial. my old ram air was more power on demand, and had a sort of high pitched scream to it, and it wasn't very loud. but when i put the CAI, it was just burly growly power, at the low end, it's not as responsive and is super growly, but higher up on the RPM range, it's waaaaay more responsive than the ram air, and it sounds like a saleen redlining (i say this, because its nowhere as deep as a saleen, but has that bumbly effect) definatly a head turner.

Even to make any type of sound you dont need to reset the ECU. I didn't reset my ECU, and the car still made a diffrent sound. NOw after succesfuly reseting it, it makes a bit better sound at lower RPMs.

I just came back from dinner, and on the way back, I floored it from behind this Prelude, on 2 lane road that converges to 1 at like 100 meters away. As I passed the Prelude, I could see both pasengers, with their heads turned toward the source of the sound...my car.

Wasnt a race at all, but still managed to catch more eye. This is awsome, my car has never got so much attention. https://www.thegalantcenter.org/style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif

BTW This "diffrent" sort of engine noise is the loudest when you put the car on Low gear and floor it. So try that, and put all the windows down. Come back if you still dont hear anything.
