PLEASE...IMMEDIATE HELP

Well last night i tried to install the AFC using directions from the 3G board inlcuding the fix. Now according to the directions our throttle wire is supposed to be yellow pin 78 but on my car pin 78 was brown/white. So i wired up to wire pin 78 and with everything else hooked up, i turned the key to the on position (did not start car) well the power for the buttons of the AFC came on, but no display on the screen. ANY IDEAS???

Also using the Kaeyo fix from 3G, does the potentiometer just tap into the outgoing RPM signal from the ECM or is one of the wires just deleted.

Sorry man i read your post but can't help -- however maybe you can help me, what the hell is an AFC and what dose it do for you??? sorry to sound stupid but I'm a geek not a mechanic and i'm frigin lost on this one.

I'd be surprised if the ECU pin out for the Eclipse and the Galant were the same. If you tell me what the name or function of the pin is you're trying to hook up, when I get home tonight I'll check the wiring diagrams in the service manual and see if I can find it.

Riley: An AFC is an Air/Fuel Controller. It allows you to change the optimum mix of Air/Fuel. It's most effective when you have significant mods, like headers or boost. It'll keep you from running too rich or too lean when the throttle is in closed loop mode. (Wide Open).

What brand and model is the AFC? Did it not come with instructions/diagrams? You still meant pin "78" in the above post but because you typed

Can you give us the link to the tutorial on the 3G board where you found this information? And do you happen to know what the connector number in the service manual is?

I couldn't find anything under the circuit diagrams that relates to "throttle".

Normally they come with Generic instructions. They can't write instructions for each brand of car, as all ECU's are pinned different. So it probably says coneect to the throttle pin of your ECU. Yes, I'm sure he meant 78, as that's where the throttle pin is for the 3G Eclipse. but thanks for diagnosing the smiley. I was wondering how he got that there. Take care TJC.

I can't find anything for the throttle pin on the ECU either in the wiring diagrams. But it looks like you've got a fix. Keep us posted.

Aw man. This is definitely no easy task. I checking the connector locations and their functions and the Eclipse one's that both of you gave me reference connectors that are not labeled the same for the Galant. C59 is for key reminder switch and C62 is for clock spring, both are part of steering column. I need more specifics since I've no experience with the wiring.

First of all, I need to know which ECU you are taping off of. The front-ECU (where the fuse box in the engine bay is) or the ETACS-ECU (behind inside fuse box on drivers side). There should only be a couple of connectors to each.

Ok, here's what I got from APEXi but doesn't reference specifically the 8G but maybe will clue you in on the right wires. Perhaps someone with more knowledge than I can make heads or tails out of the following PDF files.

I am tapping into the ECM behind the glove box (NOT EASY)....i bruised my left ribs from laying on my side so long yesterday and the day before.

The connectors that I am tapping into:

Blue (closest to center counsel)

Blue

Orange

Green

These are the same as the directions from the 3G board. So I was assuming if that was the same then the wiring should be the same. But after all the work i put everything back the way it was and maybe do it another day. My car is working though. I was scared for a while that I wasnt going to get my shit up and running.

I am still curious for the throttle pin cause the directions from 3G say that is yellow, but on our cars pin 78 is white/brown

Funny, I know of no ECU behind the glove box. Guess I got to read that tutorial a little more closer.

Guess the last option is get professional help. They should be able to make a better call on the right wires. Manybrews, any possible help with this?
