Hi! A friend is about to buy a Galant (lucky bastard) and he has a few quiestions. This is a Galant GLSI 2.0 Sedan.

1. What kind of enginge is there in the 2.0 litre version?

2. How big is the backseat? Roomie or thight?

3. Can you flip the backseat for more space?

4. Is it thirsty?

5. Usual problems?

I will be very grateful if someone could answer these questions for me!

Best wishes

1) 4g63???? im not sure i THINK. but it is either a 2.0 SOHC 8 Valve or a 2.0 DOHC 16 Valve

2) Not bad, i've sat in it a couple times but rarely do since I drive it. It had enough room for me to make out with my ex girl friend

3) You can't flip it, at least not mine and as far as i know you can't on any 6g.

4) Not too bad, pretty good if you have a 5spd, and it all depends how you drive it. about 27 to the gallon highway with a 5spd on the SOHC i think. I looked it up once, check www.autotrader.com you can find that stuff there.

5) Don't get me started on problems. ask anyone here, I have had the worse luck with my 6g then anyone else i think. but i just was unlucky i think.

Hey amigo... this is the same car I have https://www.thegalantcenter.org/style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif https://www.thegalantcenter.org/style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif https://www.thegalantcenter.org/style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif https://www.thegalantcenter.org/style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif https://www.thegalantcenter.org/style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif

Check my www for pictures...

Well, engine in GLSi is 2.0L SOHC with 80kW/109HP, it probably doesn't have air conditioning, but it has ABS, power windows and mirrors, it's rommy enough - sure https://www.thegalantcenter.org/style_emoticons/default/tongue.gif

My also has AWD (all wheel drive) - but these are very rare in GLSi versons, so you probably found one with FWD (front wheel drive).

Engine works fine, my is 1991, no rust...
Problems: I've changed my radiator, fixed alternator, the worst thing is that my ABS died, but I actually dont need it since I have AWD and brake discs on all wheels https://www.thegalantcenter.org/style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif

It can "eat" from 9 - 12 liters of gasoline per 100km,
- in city 10l/100km
- on travel 9l/100km
- when driving very quick 12l/100km

It doesn't burn oil, you must do regular oil, oil filter, air filter changes on 12.00 to 15.000 km and your car will never die ! For sure https://www.thegalantcenter.org/style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif

If you have any other questions, just ask!

Rasko Da Gama-->

Thank you! Just the information I was looking for. Though I'm surprised that the 2.0litre-version only has 8 valves. OK, the GTi has a 16V DOCH-engine, but couldn't they have equipped the 2.0version with 16 valves, and the GIt with a turbo? Mitsubishi turbos was used in SAAB-engines, and every swede knows that a SAAB turbo is a fine car https://www.thegalantcenter.org/style_emoticons/default/smile.gif'

Well. I love the 6G, its a wonderful car. I can't afford it because I'm a musiscian (witch includes amp and guitars for avout $2-3000) but when I get the money I will get a 6G GTi, black without the hiddious grey plastic border.

Thanks again!

I'm a lucky sod with a 2.0 16v GTi [4G63, but no turbo] 4WD 4-wheel steer; I think you'll find it roomy enough & mine has 100,000 miles on it with no serious problems [exhaust has rotted off it's mounts, but exhausts arent designed to last forever anyway]

Shame most ppl on here are american, or I could drive out & meet u guys some time https://www.thegalantcenter.org/style_emoticons/default/sad.gif
