hey
Im looking to buy a 1990 galant. The guy who has the one im looking at says it turns over slowly but won't start. Im going to look at the car tom. Do you have any idea what it could be. I was thinking timing belt but wouldn't that turn over really fast. The guy said it broke down on him in athens OH and had it towed here to town in Parkersburg WV and has messed with since. Thanks for any help you can give.

could be a timing belt.
could be a couple of dozen things, actually, so Im afraid I cant be of much help.

If it only turns over sluggishly, but sounds like it's trying to fire up [no nasty crashes, bangs, etc, etc coming from the engine] the most likely thing is a dodgy battery that wont hold charge - extremely easy to fix [just fit a new battery] but should get u a few quid off the price of the car

thanks
he said it turned over slowly and from what it sounds like he hasn't even touched the car since it broke down just towed it back to his house. he's asking 400$ but ill prob get it lower.

if it's been stood, and he's not had a history of problems, it'll be the battery; buy it cheap, give it a good service & a new battery and away you go https://www.thegalantcenter.org/style_emoticons/default/smile.gif
