Whoah!!!! Some galants are OBD2? Looks like there's an oxygen sensor that's coming from the side of the header. I only have one, and it's right after the cat.. What year is the galant that has the headers installed (looks like the car belongs to "white -G-Host")

Damn this really sucks  . Why does mitsubishi change the wiring diagram and conver the car to OBD2 in 1996 instead of 1994?

it IS kevins car, i beleive its a 96 but has the 97-98 nose on it

Initial -G-host

That is my car (Its a 95 with a 97-98 front conversion). It is now sponsored by Vision Imports. I posted information on the other topic 'RPW Headers being tested....." but I will post the info here about the headers.

-----Its official...White -G-host is the first with the RPW headers from Vision Imports. They were fitted and bolted on my 4g64 Tuesday this week. Flexpipe didn't come precut from RPW...so I had to get measurements for Vision Imports. I am pre-cutting the flexpipes for Vision Imports so when shipped..customers do not have to do it themselves. Claimed bhp gains from RPW is 22+ horsepower...and I can speak for that. Car has MUCH more pick up and very strong at top end power. Actual Dyno results will be available sometime soon.

- RPW headers are Gun Metal in color
- .O2 sensor is has been relocated to the header itself.(There is another one after the Cat. Converter but is left as is) You will need to relocate the wiring. On stock setup...the 02 sensor is located on he flexpipe. This requires NO MODIFICATION. The wiring is long enough to reach the header. The relocation of the O2 sensor allows for a more accurate reading for the ECU.
- Header comes with flexpipe. (Should only have to bolt on since I got exact measurements done)

 I have 2 o2 sensor before the flex and after the cat is there a hole for the o2 before the flex pipe the wire for the o2 will be too short if its on the side but i guess you can splice some wires but the longer the wire the more the resistance which menas it will be different what the o2 is reading compared to what the computer is reading throung the long wire help please I wanna get one Denver usually got the info for this thanks

According to Kevin it will reach no problem, and he has the same year G as you do. Even if it did require a foot or so more wire it would not effect the ECU in any significant way.

Maybe I missed something. Why did you move the O2 sensor? It seems to me that you'd not get a true reading with the location given in the picture as it seems to be reading only the #3 cyl. Can the sensor just be left in the stock position immediately before the cat? And to answer the question on OBDII, all 7th generation Galants are technically OBDII. The ones prior to '96 just don't have the OBDII interface under the dash. I guess Mitsubishi was just too lazy to mess with changing things in the middle of the production line. I like the headers though. Perhaps when my current finincial situation settles down I'll get me a set. Does anyone know when RPW will have a steady enough supply there won't be a back order?

We are making 25 sets of these header systems straight away and will always keep 10 or so after this in stock for future orders although Vision Imports will be stocking these as well.

These headers were origonally made off a Australian model car which tend to run the O2 sensor in the front pipes of teh cars which is where we started from.

I will place an additional undrilled O2 sensor both in front of the cat converter and after the merge collector for people who can choose where they want to place the O2 sensor.

Sweet. It's so nice to see a company (any company, but especially one that cares about Galants) try to do so much for their customers. If I remember Greddy had made plans for headers for the Galant/Eclipse GS spyder but ran into one or two snaggs and scrapped the whole idea... I'm just happy to see us getting some support. In the near future I'll probably be getting my own set of headers. Thanks to RPW and Vision Imports for putting up with the hastle to help us.

Glad to see the 7G guys are getting the same superior product and service from RPW and Vision as we 8G guys did. Not that I'm surprised, but you won't be disappointed.

anyone wanna answer my Q's?

Uhm.... no one here has one yet except Kevin. Guess he'd be the only person to answer your Q's. PM him.

Dyno tests have not been done yet, RPW claims 22+ HP if you bothered to read this post prior to asking questions.

Mitsiman

No one can answer your question because to date there has been no dyno testing of these systems as there are currently only one set of 7G headers fitted to a car and they were not dyno tested.

Dyno testing is very easy to lie with and is not something I personally put a lot of stock into.

At the end of the day feedback from other people who have fitted them is the best system.

Ask the other 8G people who have fitted them to the car what they think.

Dave -

Is RPW making the flex pipe portion, or is Vision Imports? I ask because Kevin mentions that he will be cutting the flex pipe for vision imports, but I figured that the flex pipes you would be sending with the headers wouldn't need cutting because they were going to made based on the specifications got from the stock setup on Kevin's car.

Is Mitch at APParts going to get these from you? I haven't spoken with him in a while so I'm not sure if you guys still do business, but it would be easier to go to him in Phoenix to get the parts for me...and I'd save money on shipping...

Is the "Gunmetal" paint going to crack and peel off with the heat over time?

What do you mean an "undrilled' O2 mount on the flex pipe - we'll have to get it drilled by a muffler shop to actually get the o2 sensor to fit?

Are the flex pipes you'll be shipping wider than our stock pipes? Do we need a wider catalytic convertor to get the most out of the setup?

Thanks again so much for your help - it's nice to have the support!

now.. we All know that the downpipes on CA, and Fed cars Are different, right?

so dave, and vision.. you're going To need to make 2 sets of flex-pipes

Mitsiman
09-18-2002, 09:09 PM
Vision Imports made the first set of flex pipes on a car and sent the sample back to us so we can copy off that and make them to suit.

The headers will be the same to suit both models as remember we are replacing the dump pipe with our own longer design so that it bolts up to the main cat converter. To my knowledge both models have the main cat in the same position which will make this system fir both model cars.

Yes there will be undrilled O2 sensors in key positions to suit all model cars. Yes it takes 2 minutes to drill the hole to fit an o2 sensor.

Yes all of our dealers will be selling these components.

Yes the paint will fade and flake off. Short of getting them ceramic coated there is nothing that can be done about that.

The fle xpipes will be a 2 1/2" flex pipe dieamer and where we supply a matching Cat Converter it will also be a 2 1/2" system. This wil lbe more beneficial but not absoloutly necessary straight away.

All,
I will be ordering a set as well. Now I guess I will have to get on the ball and fix this damned warm start (?flooding?) problem Im having. Cant be bolting on stuff with the car not acting right.

OK, so does anyone know the straight scoop with these headers?

Are the flex pipes finished?, are they shipped?, how soon can I kick some more Honduh bootie?

Has anyone talked to Vision Imports about what they know about them?

Yea, I think a few of us, including myself, have pre-ordered the header
