Do all tunable muffler come in one shape? Or do they have oval mufflers that are tunable? I know performance wise, you'll hardly notice anything, but does shape matter, besides looks?

I don't think shape really matter, but that's just what I think. Do some research. I've seen those new "Tear Drop" design mufflers, and BTW their hurt I think, from arospeed. Don't know nuthin on that tho.

On a tunable muffler the shape does not matter
just get one that fits without any cutting or too much welding

first of all, most tunable mufflers come in the canister style. i believe there are a few oval ones but they are kinda harder to find. as for the whole shape deal. actually shape does matter for sound. uhm ideally oval mufflers would be more quieter than a cmoparable canister since u can fit more insulation on the sides of the oval than on a canister. also the length of the muffler will affect sound. shorter mufflers will be louder than longer ones...hate to go into details but shape does matter

Thanks for the replies fellas.. Like Black2k1gtz I prefer the oval shape mufflers compared to the canister style mufflers. Just wanted to know what I was going to be missing for not getting the canister one. Anyway, I was thinking of getting an Arospeed Univer. Oval Muffler. with a 2.5" inlet, 4" outlet. Cost $90 including shipping. Opinions are welcome. THANKS!

Thanks for the heads up. The Bosal Brospeed one right? Yeah, i was actually considering about getting that one, but if i'm not mistaken, it only has an outlet of 3" or 3.5". Like you, i prefer something around 4", but thanks again man.

Kinda looks like my tip now, yes, i do have a tip, for all the haters :hhg: A nice one too, got it at a swap meet in englishtown for like $10, the inside is red, chipping now though.. figure time for an upgrade. The tip is 4", fills the gap very nice, that's why i want atleast a 4" outlet muffler.

Wow, the site that I was going to buy this muffler from has a 2 week special on Gen I Arospeed Muffler for 2 weeks (9/6/02-9/22/02). Now instead of $90 shipped, its now $80 https://www.thegalantcenter.org/style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif .. good thing I waited a lil and thought about it some more, i think its an omen or something. ANYWAYS, the site is http://www.nvsshop.com/ ('http://www.nvsshop.com/') Now i dont have any personal experience with the site, so i really can't say anything good/bad about them, yet..

Chrome, how big is the outlet? Looks like a 4. Looks nice. But yeah I was looking at BGR's link too, free S&H is always cool, the bomb muffler there are about $5-$10 cheaper than the link i gave before, but the oval mufflers that i was looking at are alot cheaper, about $25 cheaper. So if ur looking for the arospeed bomb mufflers check out BGR's link, but if ur interested in the arospeed oval shape muffler, check out the link above, free S&H too

How loud are the oval mufflers? I want to be able to hear it but I don't want a muffler that overpowers my normal speaking voice.

You should ask some of the people who has an oval muffler, like NRG, Fishboy, or Black21GTZ.

the bosal oval mufflers are really quiet. a lil bit louder than stock. a nice throaty sound. im going with this type of muffler for my special exhaust setup.

but that doesn't mean that all oval mufflers are quiet. for example, the magnaflow race series oval mufflers have a more agressive sound to them. in outher words loud...

Thanks. I've been looking around for mufflers for a while. I want to actually hear the exaust system and an exaust that looks better but I don't want to have a muffler you can hear half a mile away. The loud ones are great on M/T where you can "control" the sound but in A/T, IMO sound like the loud crotch rockets. I was thinking of getting a cylindrical muffler for looks and mabey put in a silencer.
