ok i got sum ?s. can this be done. are the mount positions in the same place. i would like to have a vr4 tt in there need to know what will fit. i got a buddy who will install motors for me for like 350 if its able to go in there or would a 4g64t like the eclipse gt be a better way to go i like the ripp sds but i am also lookin at this option
so here are my ?s tell me if they will work
1. 4g63tt out of vr4 whole motor and all
2. 4664t out of eclipse gt whole motor
3. tell me any other motor swaps that would work
any info would be nice and has any one done any motor swaps b4, i know i could just buy the sds or a 16g turbo kit or use a shit load of nos but i am not doin this for like 6 months so that will give me more time to look for what i want to do im knew to this so laymens terms pls lol thanks

first of all there is no such thing as a 4g63tt and eclipse gt's didnt come with a 4g64t, there is no such thing as a stock 4g64t man where do i start with this post

the 6g galant vr4 came with a 4g63t in it, same as a 1g and 2g eclipse talon laser turbo

the 7g and 8g galant vr4 in japan came with either a 6a12tt , 6a13tt, or a 6g72tt motor in it

the 3g eclipse gt came with a non turbo 6g72 same motor as a v6 8g galant

the 3g eclipse rs and gs came with the same motor as the 4cyl 8g galants it is a non turbo 4g64

the only 4g63t motor that will go into a 8g galant is the evo4-8 motor , its a 2.0 single turbo

you could be like mante and get the twin turbo galant vr4 motor out of a jdm 8g vr4

i was under the impretion that the 3000 91 and 91 vr4's that came into the usa were twin turbos but from what you say is an evo will be the only swap that i could do aside from what monti is doin, if so is it a direct bolt in (probly not) im new at all this car shit thats why i am here right and when i get driven to know sumthing i learn it. i aint afraid to ask a dum ass question

the evo swap isnt easy , its not exactly a bolt in swap and shouldnt be tackled unless you are an expert considering there is only one so far in the us and even it is not done yet...

the 3000gt vr4 came with an early version of the 6g72tt motor but it was before they made the switch over to transverse rotation and cant be used in an 8g

you could use a 8g galant vr4 motor, or an evo4-8 motor but it is by no means an easy swap , like i said read through the link it helps

you both got your cars mixed up. bam462 is partially correct, 3000 galant vr4's (2000 in 1991, 1000 in 1992) were imported into the us, but like unclemeat says, they were all a single turbo. 2 turbos on a 4 cyl would be huge overkill. in stock form, they are wonderfully detuned, and for very little money, it is easy to up the power. a simple mbc will up the boost to 15 lbs(the limit of the stock fuel system) and give a gain of 50 hp. even nitrous costs a lot more that that.

IMO, better off going with the eclipse 3g sporttronic tranny since its made for a fwd car. or maybe a eclipse gs-t tranny out of a 2g.

will it be a good fit or will there be alot of modding needed for it to fit. (motor and tranny) im thinking of getting a gs-t motor droping a green turbo and other mods as well it will push over 450hp.

Im Lost and maybe im dreaming but i want to know how the hell i can drop a 6A13TT in the 99 Galant v6 and if i can make it AWD 5 speed manual too. If i can then where do i get everything? Ebay sucks as far as engines go so i need mad help. Hybrids OWN!

the sporttonic tranny is just about as bad as the automatic
the only tranny that would be worth swapping would be an evo awd tranny with a welded vc or a 3g eclipse rs/gs manual 5spd tranny

the 2g tranny is completely different, not even on the same side of the engine bay, that wont work

i dont want to have a awd simply because i dont want to have to run all the extras and have to spend about 5 to 6 grand all together just for an awd. but thanks for the info if i do a swap i have to look around for a machanic that will do a swap for the motor and tranny.

what i MEANT to say was the information was confusing. i am sure you know what is correct. lots of people like bam462 get the galant vr4 and the 3000gt vr4 mixed up, dealer included. the galant vr4 was imported here in 91 and 92, total of 3000 units. it is a 4dr sedan, 2 liter 4 cyl dohc single turbo, awd and rwhl steering. the 3000gt vr4 is a 2dr coupe, v6 dohc with twin turbos, awd, and rwhl steering. both share the vr4 badge, but nothing else. i have even been accused of putting the vr4 badge on my car. that was before i removed everything off the rear deck lid.

Puttin in a sporty tranny in an 8G is a waste of time, and its just a slush box with option of a manual but never will be the same.. And getting a AWD drive like an EVo tranny is horrible, because driving around with a welded VC is not a great idea..

To my knowledge, no Galant was ever equiped with a 6g72tt....6g72, yes...not tt...the 6g72tt was in the 3kgt.

Dudes:
The sporty and our Tranny is THE SAME THING, REALLY.
Only difference is the ECU, and Shifter assembly
If you really want sporty - just swap out the ecu, and stick from a junked eclipse, --- done.
