So i jack up the car, go under and go holy shit. I have a 1 inch thick white core from the tire showing, cuz they got so badly worn. Not to mention they arent old. So i need some new tires.

I have a hookup so price isnt a big deal, im looking at the Yokohama AVS ES100. What you guys think of them?

Anyways i have 205/40/17 on there now and i am lowered with prokit. What is the widest and most sidewall i can get? Can i do a 205/45 or a 215/40 or a 215/45?? Let me know :-)

i have falkens 205/45/17's works great for me... i really dont like 40's they look too thin... and might mess up my rims when i get a flat or hit a bump knowing me...thinking of getting 215 45 now kuz 205 45 is kinda hard to get and i always have to preorder them...i seen 225 45, looks really nice too....

I have 215 on mine, you may be able to go as wide as 225.

A 45 ration tire will fit just fine, but your speedo will be off a few MPH.

could i go 225/40/17s in front and 215/40/17s in teh rear? or is it better to go w/ the same width throughout all 4 tires?

i have the yokohama avs es100s. these tyres are very grippy and are so very quiet.

click on my "track day rims" to check out the thread on the avs es100s... made in japan.

reviews on the avs es100s are all thumbs up as well.

btw: get 225 45 17s on all fours. however, i use 15s for faster acceleration and easier steering on the curves.

I have 225/40zr18 tires and no rubbing anywhere on the kit with a 3" drop. I only had rubbing when I had a bad rear bushing and control arm. After I fixed that it was all good.

Actually if you want wider tires it would be best to put them in the front... Galant's being FWD and all https://www.thegalantcenter.org/style_emoticons/default/laugh.gif There isn't enough real difference in width to tell just by looking at it... unless your a crazy serious tire guy..

hrm hrm hrm...

Well since the front ones are shit now...should i get 215/40 and leave the 205/40 or will the sidewall be too different and make it looks weird...since it is the perchentage of the width?

There will be no difference in sidewall height, just wider tread.

40% of 205 = 82mm
40% of 215 = 86mm
So the difference is 4mm
The height of the wheel is 8mm more, which is a lot.
I rest my case!

Bahhh Mitsupiet is def correct because I forgot ratio , if the ratio is kept the same then yeah "8mm". But in good 'ol American measurement that is barely 1/3 of an inch... and 215/40R17 is actually the correct size for our cars, it is closest to factory circumfrance.

i'm assuming everyone here who has 18s is 8" wide, and everyone here on 17s is 7". u might as well pay for the 215s on the 7" since its not that big of a difference, and all 4 tires are wider which = better traction.
