Oh I did sand. With like 40 grit paper. Which was WAY to big. Also the scars all over the plastic made by the aircraft shit made it a lot harder.

sanding isn't necessary. just as long as u get rid of that glossy finish on the wood grain. primer helps alot too. i finished painting the trim pieces on the dash without primer and it turned out pretty nice. but what i did notice is a color difference between the trim pieces because i didn't use primer. i suggest using primer to get a more uniform color.

i've also been using sandpaper too to smooth out between coats, i've been wet sanding actually and yea try to get the coats as smooth as possible, sanding is a bitch. i've gone thru a pack of 1000 grit sandpaper just to do the dash and its still not silky smooth.

if u mess up on painting a trim peice and need to remove the paint i recommend nail poilish remover it will take the paint off and not melt the plastic trim peice, i fucked up on my center peice around the shifter and i use it to take the paint off and sanding and repainting u never would have know that it was messed up

After you sanded it you should have ran some soapy water over it and hit it with like a 800 grit sheet. and some clear coats will help also
