quick bulb question

Hey i'm looking for a new set of headlight bulbs. When it says 55W = 100W, Does that mean its used 55 watts but the output is like 100W???

Also a 55W = 100W bulb going to burn the harness....no...cause it is equal to the stock wattage right??

It takes about 3 wks for any bulbs more that 55w(meaning 80-100) to burn out the harnesses. I keep track so I know. Those things get super .
