I'd start by removing the rust spots, either with steel wool or a chemical rust dissolver if it's really bad. Then I'd paint it with some rust inhibiting primer, like rustoleum. Then follow it up with the color match paint and maybe some clear. If you don't do that, the rust is going to come back. Also, try and figure out what's causing it. Did something hit the area and chip off the paint, do you have an accumulation of water somehwere, etc.

Holy crap, man. No wonder it's rusted. That whole panel has no paint on it. I'd say that's a job for a professional. They're gonna need to sand it and repaint that entire window trim. On the off chance, is your car under warranty? I can't remember what the rust-through warranty is, but I think it's 60K miles. Either way, that's gonna be expensive to fix and make it look original. You're looking at a full base, paint, clearcoat job on that window trim.

i know they are going to give me a hard time...

but i'm going to have to try..

If they hassle you, there's always the Mitsu regional office and then the corporate office. That kind of paint deterioration is unacceptable. Let me know how you make out.

wow, that is bad, your car should still be under warranty.

Well went to the dealership today.
Waited almost two hours for them to take a look at it.
They said its not covered under warranty because its only surface rust not rust thru.
What can I do now?
Who can I complain to?
This sucks.

See my message above. Look in your owners manual for the Regional Mitsu number and start there.

Maybe you could find the part at a junk yard so you wouldnt have to have it redone? Just a thought if it could be easier..
