Hey guys,

It's been a grueling week for my Galant, and I'm STILL not done. haha

I took Wednesday and yesterday off from work trying to get everything in order but I still have a couple things left...

Anyway, I will try and take some pics after I get my rear springs/struts in (hopefully Saturday or Sunday), and once I throw the JDM grills in.

So here's the story:

JDM bumper bolts right on as far as the mounting points are concerned (two bolts at the center of the t-bar, one bolt at each headlight corner, and one bolt at each wheelwell).

HOWEVER, there are two brackets on the JDM bumper that need to be sawed off. It's weird, there's this metal "bracket" that goes across the entire bumper in the back, and holds the fog lights (I dunno if you guys with the stock fog lights have a similar bracket or not) and what must be mounting brackets for the bumper on the JDM Galant. So yeah, I took a hacksaw to the two mounting brackets that stretch toward the engine bay and then you can fit it on fine.

The only fitting issue with the bumper really is that the passenger side fog light stretches out so far toward the engine bay that it interferes with the horn. I was too lazy to relocate the horn so I just unbolted it, at least for now.

The JDM grills are a little bigger than our stock ones, and you have to kinda force them in but they do fit (had to take em out after to adjust the headlights and it was too dark to put em back in last night)...

I got the JDM headlights hooked up, using just the H4 as lo and high beam. Maybe someday I'll get some H1 harnesses and have dual high beam but couldn't find any H1 harnesses around.

The foglights are H3s, but I couldn't seem to find a stock harness for the USDM fogs... anyone know where this/these is/are?

I guess that's pretty much it. I'm in love with the bumper and I think it looks good with the Erebuni sides and rear... it's a little higher up but it still flows rather well. If I can save up some money for a canard or rig up some sort of lip it'd look even better.

Like I said, pics hopefully sometime over the weekend. Gotta clean her up and make sure everything else is in order.

Thanks for all of your help!

**Oh yeah, I also received what I guess are JDM mudguards if anyone wants them... I know someone here was bidding on the sideskirts so these would probably make a good addition.

I will also have 2 extra H4 harnesses if anyone will be doing the JDM headlight conversion soon.

Brandon...glad to hear you got it on. I was the high bidder on the skirts. As long as all goes well, I will be high bidder when it ends too. So I may have an interest in those mudguards. I'll let you know.

Just to reiterate....PICS!!!! WE WANT PICS!!!!

Were you able to keep the bumper reinforcement? Did you have to remove the foam piece?

***what are you going to do with the hood and fenders? is the hood just like ours?***

Judging by the pics from the auction, the hood and fenders looked identical, so I told them not to even bother shipping em and save myself $160 in shipping costs.

***Were you able to keep the bumper reinforcement? Did you have to remove the foam piece?***

I couldn't find my bumper reinforcement so I'm guessing I must have left it in the trunk of my old Mazda that just recently got junked. (Stupid, I know)

So I'm still driving unsafely with no reinforcement and no foam.

Brandon I can't wait to see the car. That's exactly what I wanted to do to mine...before I sold it  .

In my opinion this is going to be the baddest galant on any of these boards.

I got to dissapoint you though, about 3 years ago i found a galant in Canada that had the same bumper, but on the other hand canada is not US...so you are the first one https://www.thegalantcenter.org/style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif

This is one sexy galant https://www.thegalantcenter.org/style_emoticons/default/ohmy.gif
I only have one negative thing to say about the car...loose the sideskirts and the rear bumper, get something very plain. Otherwise the car's design doesn't frow, you need something round and bubbly for the sideskirts and the rear.

Also it would look great with some 16X7.5/8 GAB wheels with +38/+35 offset, slammed. https://www.thegalantcenter.org/style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif ...this gives me an idea for the future...

Once again the car looks great, I totally love it.

So get your Galant back (or another one) and do it up! I know everyone here would agree. haha

I had too many problems with my old galant, plus the tranny was about to go out https://www.thegalantcenter.org/style_emoticons/default/sad.gif , so it was time for me to get rid of it. If I ever get bored with my GSX I'll either get the 7th gen in mint condition or the 8th gen. Because there's still the second style for the front bumper from the 7th gen VR-4 that noone has bought yet...and that's the one I was going to get before I sold the galant.

P.S.

That's after 3 months of work, and when I got the car I told everyone that I will keep this thing stock https://www.thegalantcenter.org/style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif ...that never worked out https://www.thegalantcenter.org/style_emoticons/default/laugh.gif

Yeah I got pretty lucky on the body of the car, it's never been hit, and it's all original body panes with original paint. Now the engine on the other hand needs some minor work like new valve-stem seals, and new belts.

I will go to the track on the 27th of september for highschool drags (even though I'm in college https://www.thegalantcenter.org/style_emoticons/default/laugh.gif ). I hope to run low 14/high 13s....I just had a new clutch installed so it should give me quicker time slips. I'm tempted to see how fast it is but can't because i have to BREAK IN the clutch and not BREAK IT. So I'm taking it easy for the next 300 miles (no boosting whatsoever  )
