i am 99.9% sure that you could. i dont see why it wouldnt work. the outside part of the taillights look almost the same so that would be your only factor...

someone correct me if im wrong, but if he buys the 94 trunk lid, he just puts that on the car and wires it up and bam, 94 rear end, only thing he might have to do is paint the trunk, the side pieces are the same, right?

Side pieces are the same, but he will need the ENTIRE trunk.

PLUS the 97-98 is slightly different than the 94-96! It is a little more square , I am not sure they would be a direct fit. I dont think you are an idiot that would do something like that swap blindly so please prove me right and check it out first! I hate to hear people say " I was told it would fit, I spent all this money and now I gotta find the right one!" https://www.thegalantcenter.org/style_emoticons/default/laugh.gif

after an unfortunate accident with someone trying to help me push my car onto a trailer, they decided to push on the spoiler and cracked and ripped it out of my trunk lid....... so after riding around with duct tape covering the screw holes for a while... i found a '98 trunk lid w/out a spoiler at a junkyard (white, same color as my car) in perfect condition w/all the tails for $175. i have a '95 and it took me about 45 min. to put on and fit perfect.

Cool. That's good to know for a fact and not speculation.

Just like 2 weeks ago I was thinking of a rear conversion to a 98 not to serious but just something that crossed my mind. If the 95 fits a 98 would a 97, 98 fit a 94?

This is for anyone thinking about changing the 97-98 trunk and taillights with a 94-96G. I never did care for the taillights on my 97 G. I did like the 94 - 96 taillights. I decided to take a chance and went to my local junk yard and picked up a complete set of taillights plus trunk from a 94-96 G (I could never tell the difference between any of them) for $250.00. You might be able to get a better deal but I wasn't in a bartering mood when I went to pick it out. I made the swap in about 4 hours. Just disconnect the cable to the lock on the 97 release and use the electrical connections from the 94 to connect to the wire going to the trunk in the 97. You will have to transfer the lock from the 97 trunk to the lock on the 94 so that your key will still open the trunk. I filled my lock in so I didn't need it. When I finish painting it I will show pictures.

So here you go. You must have the trunk from whatever version taililghts you want. For me I am going to swap from 97/98 to 94-96, and I now need a 94-96 trunk. The outside part fits just fine, but the inside has a different shape to it:

has anyone ever tried just removing that center garnish off the 97/98 (the part that says GALANT) it looks removable, and see if the tails will just bolt on without changing the trunks

Ive taken it off, its just a piece of plastic. Trunk dont look too good without it.
