Short Ram

quick questions, is it worth it to put a short ram intake on instead of a drop in k&n filter?
I ask because with the stock box the air at least comes from the outside of the car but with the short ram the air is right next to the hot engine. Will the heat negate any hp gains? What are the pros and cons of both?

the short ram is still a bit better than a k&n drop in filter... plus it sounds cool... but y not go Cold Air Intake?

bla shortram SUCKS. On a 60 degree day shortram : 130deg air vs 80 with a drop in, compared to 55 on a full cai. Ye shortram will suck a lil more air then a drop in, but the air is so hot that you end up evening out back to a drop in anyway. I got the datalogs somewhere if anyone wants to see em from each setup

I want to do the cai but up here in Minnesota where winter is half the year you never know when you are going to be driving through a foot and a half of snow. Do you think the cai would be a problem with the snow?

did the short ram with the heat shield in my old subaru.... it was def. a big step up from the air box and K&N drop in... the drop in did jack shit

I have the same problem....before the winter im probably going to get a bypass valve or just throw in my short ram back in......but where exactly do you put the BV on the CAI
