I have a 93 HJ Galant. Ever since I bought it six years ago, the transmission thumps when you slow down and start to accelerate again. Eventually they discovered it to be a factory fault called a down shift shock thump and the Transmission control unit causes the problem. Did anyone else have this problem? Did changing the TCU (which isn't cheap) fix the problem. I am worried the transmission may be so badley worn that I may be up for a new transmission.
