Ok i need some help. I am putting a TV in my car but i already have a deck. Would it be possible to stick just this monitor in the dash. http://www.crutchfield.com/cgi-bin/S-yz1Cq...a=1&cc=01&avf=Y ('http://www.crutchfield.com/cgi-bin/S-yz1CqE3AlMk/ProdView.asp?s=0&c=3&g=39200&I=158XVMH65&o=m&a=1&cc=01&avf=Y') Or would i have to buy the pop out monitor http://www.crutchfield.com/cgi-bin/S-yz1Cq...a=1&cc=01&avf=Y ('http://www.crutchfield.com/cgi-bin/S-yz1CqE3AlMk/ProdView.asp?s=0&c=3&g=129300&I=158XAV7W&o=m&a=1&cc=01&avf=Y').
My friend told me they could make a mold of my wooden dash and stick my deck that i already have and the monitor in it. And from there i could stick a DVD player in the glove box or something.
Please give me all your ideas and answers thanks so much. Out.

Personally, I prefer the all in one type of set up, for a cleaner looking installation. Plus everything is there in one spot. The real drawback to this is the fact that all of the CD/DVD/LCD head units I've seen are $1K+. So, that can be a problem. There is something to be said for the originality of a custom set up though. It's a pain in the tail to do it yourself and is expensive to pay a shop to do it, though. But there's your choices. Either sell the head unit you have now and buy an all in one unit, or add on to what you already have and deal with things like a custom dash bezel or something and a DVD player in your glovebox. Having it in your glovebox would seem a real inconvenience to me, as I have mine full of BS most of the time, but it might keep the 5 finger discount crowd from bashing your windows out. As I said, I like the all in one deal, but if the head unit you have now is compatible with what you are planning, then that might be the way to go. Just a thought.

i'd but the popout monitor and put it in the top din where the stock head unit is and move the head unit to the bottom din.

I had that thought also, but is there enough room to get a CD in the head unit with the shifter in park? I installed a CD head unit for a friend in this location and he said it was a pain to always have to shft to drive to get a CD in. Just another thought.

its possible you'd have to take your trim piece, cut out the bar. relocate the ac controls down. then find a new place for the radio. but yea back to the bezel, you'd have to do some fiberglassing to fill in some of the gap and make things look nice.

im in the process of doing that. well kinda. buying the screen later. right now im purchasing the trim pieces i need to do the whole project.
