Think I'm gonna try and tackle this again... tried it on the old G but not on this one yet.

Anyone got any tips? Is there enough room/leverage for a breaker bar?

C'mon no one's changed theirs?! haha

I found this post: http://www.clubtgc.org/forum/viewtopic.php...ght=fuel+filter ('http://www.clubtgc.org/forum/viewtopic.php?t=15402&highlight=fuel+filter')

but I'm kinda curious as to how much fuel is gonna spew out and how much time I should set aside, etc etc.

Anything?

Well today I attempted to change the fuel filter..

I changed it alright, and it fucking ripped about a 1/2 inch of the fuel line with it.

The bolt was so crudded up and stuck on the bottom half that it just stayed there.

So now my car is undriveable and I'm gonna have to go to ghetto rig something.

SHITTY.

my bad, i havent seen this thread....but since you already changed the filter, word of advise to anyoebn else who plans on replacing their fuel filter, be careful becuz some fuel WILL spit up, and squirt a few places, its like opening a can of pop, right after you shook it, lol. O yea, and NO SMOKIN!!!!lol, had to ad a lil funny in there...lol

Well here's my plan now...

Buy a section of fuel line and fuel hose from Carquest, cut the existing line about a half inch so it opens back up (it's twisted to a close right now), and then clamp the hose/pipe back onto the existing fuel line.

Sound like it'll work?

just keep in mind, if your going to buy the new line, make sure...its the EXACT SAME length/width in size. I had a friend who changed his fuel lines, but he had bought fuel lines which were just a little bit bigger in width which made his car STALL and/or not turn-on some times. He was told that the fuel was stuck in the fuel line. Much luck to you and be careful.

I'm not sure if this is valid on the galants, but I assume it's the same. When doing anything to the fuel system, before you try and take off any fuel related part, open the gas cap to let it breathe and/or vent. No need for spewing gas, that's just not fun.

make sure you clamp it like there's no tommorow. the last thing you want is a fuel leak for many reasons. you could always weld it together. https://www.thegalantcenter.org/style_emoticons/default/laugh.gif j/k, dont do that.

Well I'm gonna work on it today after work. I went to Autozone and picked up a generic line and a compression fitting so it should be (or at least work) as good as new when all is said and done.

Now I'm really gonna be pissed if after all this I STILL have my hesitation issues.

dude you dont need a fuel filter......all it does is add more weight to the car. cut it out and tape the line together with duct tape.... https://www.thegalantcenter.org/style_emoticons/default/laugh.gif

 I did mine stripped the nut so I visegripped the nut and used a 19mm wrench on the filter
I think 19mm the line itself you have to buy the whole line to the tank its one piece unless you know somebody to double flare the lines for some extension goodluck
