ok you guys as you might already know i have a 2001 4cyl and i was wondering if it would be better to get a turbo like many of you already have or to go with a supercharger and headers... or is that combo even possible cuz i wanna get headers soon but i dont want to have to figure out what to do with them if i go turbo any suggestions will be much appreciated...

If you go the supercharger route then yes, you can use the headers (which are out for the 4 bangers now I believe). There are also turbo kits out for the 4 cylinders I think, but if you follow that path do not waste money on headers.

ok cool so it is possiblew to use both a supercharger and headers do you think it would be effective... and what about if i through a 50 0r 75 shot in there what other kind of engine mods would you guys recomend and where to get them.

It really depends on what kind of power you are looking for. The supercharger will give you low end power...getting you off the line quicker...and the turbo will give you the high end power. I am a fan of supercharers...

if you had money...i'd go for all 3. supercharger turbo and nos. but yea going back to reality, you got to think about when u want all this power.

i mean the turbo is nice. available now. and yea for the low end, just run a lil NOS to help u out on the low end.

the blower is good too. i like power in the low end IMO. get me off the line. but the problem with that is availability. they i4 blower will be avialable when? i mean when do u want it. can u actually wait that long. etc etc....

Black2k1GTZ is there a a supercharger kit avalible for the i4 now or will there be some time soon... cuz i remember you were takling about it awhile before?

pinoyesv6 if i get the headers now thats low end right and i get nos to tune for highend i should be ok till they come out with a supercharger then when i get the supercharger i can have that put in and still use the nos and headers ryte where do you think that would put me as far as power would that be tomuch low end?

i4 supercharger is still in R&D

as for the headers and NOS you can do it. and then when u get the supercharger u'll be str8. as for too much low end...don't worry about that. just get some good tires and a good suspension setup and u won't have that much traction problems...

Also keep in mind RPW is developing a twin-turbo setup...if you have the cash, this might be a good alternative to a blower, since with a twin-turbo the turbo lag would be eliminated. You get the best of both worlds, good on demand power like a supercharger plus you get to keep the top end bonus of a turbo.

If you perhaps know, Will RPW make the twin turbo setup as one small turbo and the other big? I would think that this would help low-end and top-end at the same time, but why not headers too? Don't they suggest you should run straight headers with no exhaust with Turbo anyway?

u can't use aftermarket headers because the turbo is run off the exhaust gasses. and where do they tap for these exhaust gasses, the headers. so yea its kings like they cut the header in half and route some piping to the turbo...

Sort of .. I guess every twin turbo setup has a small turbo and one big turbo. Port and polishing the stock headers from what I hear is just as good as an Aftermaket Headers.

some turbo setups have two of the same sized turbo, especially on vehicles with two banks of cyliunders. a turbo for each bank and a custom intake setup...

Check http://www.ddynopower.com/ ('http://www.ddynopower.com/') they have turbo for 4 cylinder Galants there.

We are actually going to be using two small Garret GT-25 ball bearing turbo's on our system. Each running independantly off each bank.

The turbo's are rated at 200hp each totalling 400hp normally but they are proven good up to 250hp which I think is more than large enough for the 6G72 motors. We can also upgrade to the GT-28 turbo's which are rated 200 - 350hp.

The main benefit of these turbo's are ZERO TURBO LAG. Yep beleive me on this - they will be producing positive boost at 2000 rpm and go all teh way to 7500 easily. Of course with our larger 3.5 motor this will be even more pronounced which is why we will be going eventually to the GT-28 turbos - the first 3.5 V6 producing 700hp is our aim.

Anyway this system will be made available for the USA model V6 cars when completed. Best of all this would be perfectly happy running 5 psi as it will at 15 psi so there is a large scope for improvement and no loss of driveability.

RPW will be designing a whole twin turbo manifold, twin dump pipe up to the same HFC cat converter being used so it will be compatible to the same systems used on our header systems.

I beleive Vision Imports are still waiting for someone to provide a vehicle for a discountd turbo kit to be fitted to there car.

We know the turbo kit will fit up but we want to triple check that everything fits up correctly.

The kit will be using a GT-28 ball bearing turbo, internal wastegate and provided with our 300cc injectors, piggy back computer etc.

If you are interested defintly speak to Vision Imports to arrange a time and speak about pricing.

funny u mentioned that pinoy, i have actually seen this done on an AWD audi A4 turbo... and ironically enough that car got wrapped around a telephone pole because of , u guessed it, more power than the driver could handle. the super charger handled low end and the turbo handled high-end (the supercharger was run on a pulley w/ a disengaging clutch) and the N2O just added spice all the way through.

I talked to Matt down there and I put up a post about the Test Fit Car. He never got back with me about a Price. If I hadn't already ordered my headers I would have taken the Car down to him. but iam also holding out for another type of Charger from Down Under

kinda dumb question.. but how long do these turbos last?
how long can the mitsu engines handle the power?
because i heard turbos or superchargers are hard on the engine
so their life is much shorter than stock engines....
do headers have the same effect.?

damn thats hurt. but yea i just thought abuot it, u can put on a 6 pack too. but yea thats overkill. ur gonna have big ass traction problems.

turbos can last long. it all depends on teh condition you got it in, the conditions you put it through and how good u take care of it. i mean i know of people using used 1g eclipse turbos in their cars and its running fine.

as for handling the power. yea the mitsu motor can handle the power. do a lil upgrades here and there to make the turbo a worthwhile upgrade and you should be str8. but yea its how u drive your car too. i mean a turboed daily driver would most likely last longer than a all race turboed car. just because u don't put the car in that many stressful conditions
