Are you serious? I have 18x8 +45 offset and it rubs in the back when I hit bumps. I have 225/40 Yokohama Parada II's.

This is one of the leaking wheels. It's a three piece with a chrome lip. The stupid silicone seal keeps leaking. That's why I want to get another set of 18's and either sell these on Ebay (for more that what I paid :lauging: ) or keep them for show rims and put them on for special occasions and damn the slow leak.

your rims are so pretty bgr....can't picture them being wasted by going for sale on ebay...how often do u put air back in it....meaning how long does it take for the wheel to loose enough pressure to get into the dangerous level?

I had this problem a while ago
Took it back to the tyre place told them it was leaking slowly

They removed the tyre used a small wire brush on the inside on the wheel
reseated the tyre and haypresto
no tyre needing to be pumped up every 2-3 days

Never heard of silicon being used on a tyre though it was enertia keeping the air in
Or you could try and see if you can get a inner tube put inside the tyre
would defanitaly stop the leak
Those are great looking alloys

My situation was totally different. The Racing Hart wheel I have is/was in 3 pieces; The outer lip, the center mesh piece and then the rest of the wheel. When these 3 piece are put back together, there needs to be a seal placed on top of where these 3 pieces fit together, which is sort of in the center of the wheel. The problem I had was that I was putting too much silicone in this area. Every time the tire shop placed the tire over the wheel, part of the tire, as it was being placed onto the wheel, would rub up against the silicone seal, unseating it and then breaking the seal, which caused these wheels to leak. It wasn't the tires. These wheels are nice but have been a pain in my ass since I bought them.

Wow, I didn't know there was such issues with multi piece wheels. I just like the multi piece wheels b/c they can use different materials in different areas to make it lighter and stronger. I was always under the impression that they would put the seal in between the pieces during assembly so you don't have to worry too much about these kind of problems.

I agree with BGR and others about using bigger offsets with wider wheels. Just use common sense and think about this for a while. A 1" difference translates to 2.4cm or 24mm. Divide that by 2 b/c it's wider front and back. Think about the ADDITIONAL offset that is needed to make wider wheels end up in the same position (face/lip of wheel). To get an 8" wheel to end up in the same place as the 7" wheel, you would need an additional 12mm in the offset. That is a HUGE difference. Think before you buy!!!

You are absolutely right, love your definition on the subject couldn't have explained it better my self. these guys know what they are talking about listen ..but you could get away with size and offset with tires.. if you stretch the tire by putting a smaller tire so it can stretch and it will also clear the wheel fender lip and also not rub..just a little trick . one of our guys has a galant here with 18x8.5 with a 40 et and 225/40/18 and it doesnt rub.. the tire stretches about 30% on both sides giving enough clerance to the fender . looks awsome ill post a pic up so you all can see. and lowered 1.5 all around. 8)

if i recall correctly, BGR got his wheels from a friend used and in pieces. so im guessing the seal was either damaged or lost
