parts express has these relays (same as the bosch one's) for $0.79 each as compared to $9.00 each for the bosch ones!

this is so you can make your clear corner lights bright all the time and dim when they flash. instead of dim all the time and bright when they flash.

Real good stuff Vio... I personally would worry if my bulbs would cause the wrong type of attention (Mr. Officer) since my bulbs are blue... Other than that, I would think this would a sweet mod in addition to clears!

well blue is illegal in every state anyway. if they have a slight blue tint to the light like a hid but not so blue like a show off bulb i think you would be alright with this mod. my corners are just a standard clear bulb but i have a set of amber in the glove compartment just in case.

well the way I did it was rewired corners to upper bulb filament, then split it off and ran the wire to auxillary light. You can either put side markers or put them somewhere on the front bumper like I did. then your corners wont blink so you can put any color bulb you feel safe with. its like one big headlight. very nice looking.

well side markers, or blinkers on your mirrors if you got those kind, or like this in the little black deal on 2002-2003 front bumper...

http://images.cardomain.com/member_images/1/web/421000-421999/421568_15_full.jpg

just "alternate" from where your blinkers would normally be. that what I meant by auxiliary.

aaahhh nice. those relocated turn signals are pretty damn cool. that's a nice little mod you came up with. too bad that wouldn't work on the 99-01.

ya, thats probably why they would have to go with side markers. I almost had a heart attack when we drilled all kinds of holes in my trunk when we put the spoiler on, so i was just a little weary of drilling holes in the side of my car. one member in AZ said "hey, you see where I drilled mine? Don't drill there! There are so many wires right there and you might fuck it up!" WTF?!?! i was like, damn, Im not even trying it!!!!

good find on cheaper relays. i'm also glad to see some of you are trying my blinker mod. i have it currently on my JDM's and it looks so much better than stock wiring, especially cuz i'm running HID headlights.

oh yeah, i can't wait to do this mod. with the price on partsexpress website you can get 2 relays, 2 prewired relay plug in harnesses and shipped for $10. this is one of the coolest mods you can do too. it's a hell of an attention grabber. great job on the tutorial as well mate. world class.

the only warning that i left out of the tutorial (becasue i foregot) was pay atention to the 1157 bulb wattages... there are now 1157 that go all the way to 35/5W; these will probably melt the harness / socket. look for 21/5w bulbs, those are the ones you want. the higher number is the OE signal filament but when you do the re-wire, it becomes your parking filament.

well my hosting finally came back online, her's a pic of my headlights and corners on...

http://www.raniworld.com/RAAA/118-1802_IMG.JPG

keep in mind, my headlights are real HID (H7 5000K in that pic), the corners were POLARG hyperwhite 1157 21/5w. look how well they match in brightness.

I'm really concidering prefroming this mod but I absolutely hate blink off set. Is there any way to wire up the turn signals so that when they are at full power when at rest, then blink to parkinglight mode when activated, all while maintaining stock blink speed?

there may be a way with my described wiring to wire in resistors to make the flasher units to believe that there is not a bulb filament out since that is what causes the fast blink, but that would still keep the lights blinking out of phase (when the parking lights are on).

there is no relay, the flash is controlled by the ecu.

well where do u instal the relays?

under the hood on each side next to the lights themselves. you just splice them into the wiring harness. you can use double sided tape to mount them to the fender walls so they aren't just hanging there. just make sure that you get the sockets to go with thte relays so that you have and easy way to change the relays is they go out and you'll have extra length of wire so the socket will reach the fender walls to mount them.

you should have ordered the sockets too. now you'll have to buy connectors that fit the relay and wire. since you didn't buy the sockets you'll want to lable each wire so you know which connection on the relay it goes too. you should just go back and order the sockets. it will look much better. cheers.

you don't need sockets. in this situation, sockets are just gonna be a waste of your money. if you want the install to be clean then just get a pack of these
http://www.radioshack.com/images/ProductCatalog/ProductImage/64/64-3049.jpg
Crimp on female quick disconnects. you can get a pack of 10 for like less than 2 bucks. just crimp on some wire and there you go.

i mean you can go out and buy a socket. and the socket will have lil pigtails at the end. same thing. the sockets isn't gonna tell you where the wires is gonna go to. so pretty much, if you didn't get the socket, don't shit yourself tryna look for one, just go to the store and get them female disconnects.

amber bulbs, white bulbs. the law differs from area to area around the country. some states allow white, some states only want amber, some states don't care. you gotta check your local laws to see whats legal and whats not.

sockets cost $1.50 and it's an easier and cleaner looking install.

is it the only socket on that site or something? cus no one has told me which socket it is still

if your order is complete and you can't add anymore, don't worry about it. just buy those disconnects i told you about. it will save u in the long run.

if it isn't complete, you can just add them in. just ask teh people get the same socket that will fit the relay you just bought.

the reason i said what i said is this. ok, quick disconnects, less than 2 dollars at local store. sockets, 1.50 each. you need 2 so you're up to 3 dollars. then shipping and waiting.
