I can help you on this one...
If you plan on driving very hard (launching at every stop, etc.), get the ACT 2100 with street disc.
If you are planning on keeping your car N/A and drive normally, get a stock replacement from mitsubishi.
If you are planning on going turbo, get either the ACT 2100, Centerforce Dual Friction or the extreme of them all...the ACT 2600 (able to hold 500hp).

Now the last option will make th pedal a lot stiffer, with the ACT 2600 being the worst of them all.

I would suggest going with the stock replacement, and if you go to the track, let the clutch cool off so you dont fry it (that's what happened to mine).

I paid almost 300 bicks for the ACT 2600 (that's with a hook-up https://www.thegalantcenter.org/style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif ). On top of that the install charge was 250 (also a hook up). Note that the install charges are for an Eclipse GST with a lot more stuff under the car to take out, so for the galant it will be cheaper. But expect to pay somewhere in the 400 dollar range for the installation at your local shop.

I would suggest trying to fid a local DSM club website, and ask them if anyone fixes DSM's for a living, and I'm sure they'll hook you up. that's what i did with my car.

thanks for the help but i have a few more questions
if the clutch is slippin do i need to replace the disc as well as the pressure plate (as in get a clutch kit) or can i just buy a new disc and keep the stock pressure plate?
also, what do u guys think about other brands like exedy, centerforce, and cumberland
i found an exedy as well as a cumberland clutch kit, both for around 160, but the product description is very vague
are these any better than OEM clutches? and are they worth the money
or should i spend the 300-400$ and get a hi-performance clutch like the act 2100 or the centerforce dual friction?

while changing the disc, might as well change the release bearing, and pressure plate. they dont cost that much anyway.

actually a disc would run me about 200 and the plate would be another 150
so i'd like to save that 150 bucks if possible
anyone else got advice for me?

thats true
thats pretty much what i'm asking
would it be ok if i left the stock pressure plate in or would it fuck up the new disc?
cuz obviously if the two didn't work togther i would spring for the pressure plate as well... probably jus get a clutch kit
still trying to figure out which one i should get...

heres a link to one of the clutch kits i found from the mitsubishi parts store

is this any better than the oem clutches
or should i get a act or centerforce for like 200$ more

o... and i was looking up the act 2100 and it fits the galant vr4 91-92
will it fit my 95 galant?

and whats the difference between the vr4 and the 2.4L?

Ok, the galants share the same shell for the trensmittion with eclipse turbos (4g63t engine), get one made for a fwd instead of awd (if there are two types for each tranny, but they should be same). I think that you need to replace the pressure plate with the clutch, I know for a fact that if you get ACT, you can later purchase a new disc of old one is worn out.

I use the ACT 2600, it was mor money than the ACT2100 and almost as much as the centerforce. Most honda people like to use the ACT because they hold up a lot better. Now I'm not planning on pushing 500hp (that's what the clutch/pressure plate can handle), at the most i will push 300-350 at the crank. So I have over 100hp of safety margin. Which meand the clutch will only be using 80% of it's potential. Which means it will last longer.

So my suggestion is to go with something that's good quality, and will hold up. If you are going to sell the car in a couple of months, then get the cheapes clutch. otherwise, do it once, and do it right.

ok thanks
appreciate the info
a few more questions

is there a dramtic difference between the "stock street disc" and the "organic street disc"

and is the pressure plate the reason a clutch slips... meaning a pressure plate with more clamping force equals less slippage
or does the pressure plate serve a different purpose?

and most of the sites ive come across label the 2100 for turbo use only
should i be thinking about jus getting an oem clutch?

ok so this is the clutch i think im gona go with

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAP...item=2435220336 ('http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=33730&item=2435220336')

a minor upgrade -- enough to handle a bit of racing and still drive easy
wut do u guys think?
i ride the clutch pretty hard even jus driving normally
should spend a little more money for a better clutch
or is this good enough?

You need to replace the pressure plate, throwout bearing, and clutch plate when you change your clutch.
The pressure plate is a HUGE part, in fact almost completely determines, the holding force of the clutch pack.
If you buy a stronger clutch, you will most likely need to learn to drive your car all over again, performance-wise. Also with a stiffer clutch it makes easy start ups more difficult because it is harder to gradually let out the clutch. With some clutch packs, the clutch is really either IN or OUT, there's not a whole lot of in between.

Did u get the Exedy clutch... I wanna know how it is... I have to replace my clutch again after about 4000 miles which sucks balls cause i never ride the thing or anything... Can someone tell me a site to where I can find the 2100 for a 96S. I also need to find a place to do it for less then 500... this sucks.

yea i got the exedy on
i suppose its a slight upgrade... a bit stronger left leg and overall im satisfied with the purchase

slut (great name), you should be able to find a place to install a clutch for less than 500 (that is if u already have a clutch kit) i got mine installed for 320... payed 450 all together, but i duno if the prices are dramatically different where u r

and ur clutch should've lasted for more han 4000 miles... u should have a warranty or something
make sure the guy that put it on sanded down the flywheel and maybe its something else and not ur clutch slipping

my two cents

i installed the exact same clutch kit on my 7g, the first 500 miles or so i could burn through 2nd and chirp 3rd, but now 4,000 miles later it just chirps the shit out of 2nd and slips if i shift really hard in to 3rd. this is suposed to be the same clutch for the eclipse turbo and i should be putting down similar power levels plus maybe a little more torque. i guess it just cant take the power. im going with a centerforce when i finish this one off and get the time/money.
