haven't tried since last we talked... my concern is the rods that are holding the fucker in place... should I break and then reattach... and then what if its an led that is soldered onto a circuit board like the one on the doors...

according to the tut its a 74 bulb...

Ok, I had no problem taking off the center knob but the outer two?! What clamps/clips is he talking about... he says its on the knob, there's nothing there... actually he doesn't specifically say where the clips are but the way it reads would suggest its on the knob... the actual unit has four clips clamps, whatever they are on the outsides... would that be it? I tried messing with those and still had no luck... can't get bulbs tonight so I said f* it... will try again tomorrow.

I'm oredering LED replacements from www.autolumination.com to go along with the 194 white LEDs I bought for my gauge cluster, all of them will tie in with my white interior neons and my white car.....should look real nice. :twisted:

Ther are 3 dials in our HVAC unit.

Left = hot/cold
Middle = blower speed with AC on/off button
Right = flow direction

The hardest part is to remove the 2 outside dials (hot/cold & flow direction). On the knob/dial shaft (between dial and gear) there are white/beige notches on both sides of each that have to be pressed in.

I pressed in one side with a screw driver and held it in place by putting pressure on it keeping it stuck in place, then I popped out the other side.

Also, when you put back the dials, you have to make sure the wires that connect to the dials are set right other wise they won't turn all the way.

definitely going to give that a shot after work...

Alright, tell me how stupid this idea is... there is a led that is soldered onto a circuit board that controls the windows... What do you guys think of just taking a red magic marker to that... think that might work? Give me a red glow... I want everything to glow red!

F*k it! I'll give it a shot tonight... I simply didn't want to solder an led onto the circuit board...

I want to go out to the car and check out those beige/white clips... I don't remember seeing those yesterday... are we talking on the dial or the casing... the casing had 8 in total... four on top and four on the bottom!

They all pull out through the front.

The middle knob pops right off. The left and right knobs have gears at the end that push/pull the wires that control the heating and air circulation. The wires look like hand brake wires on a bicycle.

You'll see what I'm talking about if you turn the knobs all the way to the right and left. You'll see an arrow shaped notch on both sides.

i did this and it looks great, the red shows nicely, but when i tried to color coordinate the guage bulbs, it looks like a pinkish color, anyone know how i can make the re bulbs seem more red, im guessin the only way to do this is to paint the back of the guages with like a testors candy apple red transparent paint but ive read many a time from pinoy not to take the guages off. any other ways. thanks.

if you go to the back of the climate control unit, you'll see where the two bulbs go.

How do I get the rods off of the unit?

pinoyesv6

to disconnect the linkage you have ot pinch the top of the white part that the linkage pivots on. and then at the same time pull the linkage ring upwards. once the linkage ring is pinching the white pivot part you can just pull up

to disconnect the cable from the unit itself i got at it from the underside. if u can look inder it and you'll see how its held in and just use a flathead to take it out.

but yea i would not disconnect the linkarge or you're gonna have a fun time putting it back on. but i would disconnect the cable from its holder for a lil bit more room to play with
