Well guys, I'm writing to tell you about my experience with the bulbs I recently bought, I'm talking about Osram (down here in Chile we call them like that, you call them Sylvania https://www.thegalantcenter.org/style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif ) Cool Blue bulbs.

Well, I was not completely satisfied till I had them on my hands. I had seen Sylvania's comparison chart and it said the Cool Blues produced 3500 °K, so I never thought it would be a real upgrade to my stock lights, but anyway I decided to buy them, anything to improve the damn headlights!!!

BUT, what I saw on the Chilean website was true... this cool blues produce 4000 °K!!! https://www.thegalantcenter.org/style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif or at least that's what the box in which they came said... it said "10% bluer, 4000 °K" and the box says "Type 3D"... a friend of mine bought ones that said "Type 2D" and they didn't say anything about being bluer, etc. So maybe the "type" has to do with this, and the 2D produce 3500 °K and the 3D produce 4000 °K... who knows...

I replaced the old stock bulbs with the new ones when it was like 3PM, and even at daylight I could see the difference... (I mean I replaced 2 of the 4 bulbs I had to buy in order to compare the stocks with the new ones, remember down here we have JDMs...) The cool blues looked white at daylight!!!!!!!

Later, at night, I went down anxiously and turned on the lights... OMG!!! I love them, they produce a bright WHITE LIGHT!!! (no idea why they're called cool blues...)

A Mercedez Benz E320 was passing by with those amazing HID lights, and I can tell the light beam of the cool blues looked ALMOST exactly the same, though when you look at the headlights you can tell immediately that the E320's headlights are HIDs and my galant's aren't hehehe https://www.thegalantcenter.org/style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif

HOWEVER (I hate saying this...) my headlights still have the same problem... I mean the light beam is great, etc. etc. etc. but the aiming is BS, I've tried everything to aim the headlights up, I've moved every single bolt, etc. but the headlights won't aim further up...

Well, I hope this is useful if someone is looking for light bulbs, I think these ones have an excellent relation between price and quality... (I paid 30 bucks for 4 bulbs... very cheap for what they do...)

In what concerns to me, I give up trying to fix the problem with my headlights, I just hope I don't get stucked into something I didn't see in front of me because of these damn headlights...

bye!!!

don't worry these won't be the last pair of bulbs I buy, I'll let you know every single thing I do with my G's headlights, mainly because JDMs have this problem... All the Galants I've driven down here have the same problem, and sooner or later I'll solve it!!!!

thanks, bye!!!

hehe i can blind traffic a mile away. glad you like your bulbs! i'm gonna take a look at my JDM's 2morrow to figure out which bolts to adjust the low beams up. i got 2 busy today.

btw, this is why i can blind anybody... i have JDM's w/ DUAL beam HID (2 full kits) and in the JDM's the hi beams are unshielded (basically you are looking directly at the HID bulb through the glass, which is pretty much like looking at the sun). so w/ 4 HID capsules lit, my car looks like police helicopter on the street.

here ya go:

keep in mind this pic had to be completely underexposed or else it would b almost completely white.

I had the silverstars and though they were an improvement over stock, I really wasn't impressed. So, I went for Nokya Arctic White H4s with matching 893 and I swear by them. They are so bright and when you are driving at night they make a cool blue color and when you look directly into them they are screaming white. I will always use them from now on, I think they are the next best thing after HIDs.

heh i didnt have 70 dollars for the nokyas. dont those need aftermarket harnesses?

Rodkorn

but nokya arctic whites cost 30 bucks a pair... and supposedly only a few cars need aftermarket harnesses...

I got em from www.autothing.com for $29.95 a pair, total was $65 and cahnge. I have never had a probem with the harness. They fit in fine and look great. The packages say they recommend getting a Nokya harness, but hey, what do they know?Haha.

I took a few more pics of the headlights... take a look!
Notice that some pics are REEEEEEEEEAAAAALLLYYY underexposed...

The lights can barely illuminate across the street...

This one giver a better perspective of how bad the headlights are aimed...

This picture is very interesting... the HIGHBEAM (on the right) is equiped with an OSRAM Cool Blue that produces 4000K, and the LOWBEAM (on the left) is equiped with an OSRAM Cool Blue too, but this one produces 3500K... you see the difference?
http://www.imagestation.com/picture/sraid83/p627be9eb88cb8c1da345df9e552aab89/fadc2f9d.jpg

NO IDEA about that purple "thing" around the headlights... they are completely WHITE, so I don't know where that purple color came from...

I'm sure no one would like to drive with such badly aimed headlights... what the pictures show is not more than 6 or 7 metres in front of the car... I mean, they are dangerous... and they don't go up although I keep trying to aim them...

bye!!!

like i mentioned, i had the silverstars and didn't like them. they are not bright...although you can tell the difference from the vanilla colored stock, wasn't my cup of tea. i got some euro-lites. i think thats the name of them. i gotta check again. they are better & brighter...plus i like the bluish tint it gives off. if i had a digi-cam, i would take a pic of the box it cam in. i'll take a look at them tonite and give you further details manana.

Rodkorn
10-14-2003, 07:38 PM
hehehe yeah the difference is tooooo noticeable, but the fogs will get melted if you put a HID system, won't they?...

Back to my headlights...
what do you think about the distance my lights illuminate?? (see pics of one of my previous posts)

thanks, bye!

Dont HID lights produce less heat than most of the "hyper white lights", since they only need a lot of wattage to get the reaction started, and very little to maintain the discharge. opposed to the filament bulb using more watts constantly???

hummm you're right... damn I got confused, let's ask reelax https://www.thegalantcenter.org/style_emoticons/default/tongue.gif

P.S: I'm still waiting for some opinions about my headlights' aiming https://www.thegalantcenter.org/style_emoticons/default/sad.gif

Yea Scootin, I do. I seem to be the unofficial tester for a lot of new products here. I was one of the first, if not the first person on the site to buy the silverstars when they came out last year. Here's my original post http://www.clubtgc.org/forum/viewtopic.php...hlight=sylvania ('http://www.clubtgc.org/forum/viewtopic.php?t=5154&highlight=sylvania') It's kinda funny reading it now, seeing as how people originally said they were disappointed with the silverstars, but lately they seem to be gaining a lot of popularity here.

i also bought them when they first came out. i wasn't too thrilled about them at all. couldn't wait to get rid of them....finally i gave them to my homeboy....he likes them just as you did in your previous post.
