please....please...please don't worry about your top speed. That is how you kill people. If you're going to street race (which i do, but only safely i.e when there are no other cars around and i am alone in my car) then do it from a light or a slow roll. Highway racing is stupid stupid stupid, I know of one person, at least, who is lucky to get out of a game of highway cat and mouse with his life, but unfortunately he almost killed a father in a jeep wrangler.

It's all in the acceleration. Don't try and go 115 or faster on the highway. Try to make 115 your 1/4 trap speed.

we race up and down a 12 mile stretch of back roads in the middle of the country duing the late late night and no one is around
the road is nothing but straits and 90 degree turns with a few S curves
it is the best place to race but you have to have a good top speed for the 3 differant 2 mile straits

dont worry we make sure noone is on the road when we race we take hella country cornersall we have to worry about is deer and turkeys

No joke, I crashed @ 90 MPH, flipped 3 times. I was never into cars before then, but after my crash everything changed. I wanted to go faster. Its not that I didnt learn my lesson, I felt that I had learned a lot. Most importantly I learned when/where its acceptable to speed.

I dont think anyone wants to contribute to something that could result in your death or serious injury. Work on getting your car's 1/4 mile time below 14, that is an enormous challenge in itself. My old chevy lumina Z34 could do 140 but what's the point? My buddy launched himself 100 feet into the air by hitting a ditch at 100mph...he will never be the same again...

my boy has a '99 G and his car just cut off after he went past 120mph once. on my car ('01) i've gone past 120mph a few times...one time in particular when i was racing a SS Monte Carlo, it went well past 120mph. i thought all cars had that governer until i drove mine like i did.

V6 stock without limiter probrably wont do anymore then 130-135. To me the v6 feels sluggish at 100 and up.

hahahahaahahahaa, that sucks man. V6s would be able to pull higher speeds easier than the I4. but damn, i feel bad for you speed hungry 8G guys, i hit 115 at least 3-4 times a week going to school. there's this huge straightaway 2 miles long thats soooo flat (i have coilovers, must have flat road) and you can see if there are any cops, so neeedless to say, speed test every day. i think its 121 the highest i've been on there, just a god damn minivan got in the way, a good 1/2 mile ahead

The 8G V6 has a Computer Limited Fuel Cutoff at 128 MPH. I have hit this about 100 times. It feels like the cars almost dies! There really is no way around this unless you reprogram the ECU because that is what does this. I do beleive this is the same across all 3.0L V6 Galant's.

Now whats really tickling my curiosity is why in the world did the Mitsu guys decide to give the sportier galant a fuel cutoff, and the normal one no fuel cutoff. Is the fuel cutoff supposed to be some kind of luxury? Its not like I wouldnt notice I was going 128 mph.

Getting rid of the cutoff would require stand alone engine management.

Not accurate, as stated earlier the 99 I4's do not have hte limitation.

<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE(Jet BLaK)</div><div class='quotemain'>

They are different, the standalone engine managment or EMS can control everything under the hood minus the trans I believe. Spark, # cylinders, ignition timing, boost controller INCLUDING the fuel etc etc. Alittle more expensive but gives you total control. Where as the fuel managment can only control the fuel usually can also add more injectors to the vehicle
