Are the tranny internals for a 7g 5 speed and a 2g turbo eclipse 5 speed the same? I'm having a hella hard time finding parts for the 7g.

no they are not.......the gs and rs parts are the same, the turbo parts are going to be a "higher" grade of parts with different gear ratios able to hold more torque and all that mechanical shit......the tranny will bolt up to the 4g64, so if you want you can go get a 2g tranny turbo or non and bolt right up to your 7g.....

If you search someone on this group posted their 5spd swap with some pics and everything. So it has been done before.

I don't have a question about the swap. my question was about the interchangeability of tranny parts.

sorry, i should have been more specific. I have my tranny, but I need a flywheel and a clutch kit and I was curious if the flywheel and clutch kit for a 2g eclipse turbo tranny would fit.

I actually did find a clutch kit, but I still can't find a damn flywheel.

u gotta find out if our motors are 6 or 7 bolt motors... manybrews should be able to help you out on that one..... if we have a 6 bolt motor then get a clutch kit for the 6 bolt and for the 7 bolt vice versa, i think our motors are 7 bolt though...i'm not positive on that one....

we are seven-bolt, any seven bolt flywheel will work, the hole in the middle where the alighnment tool goes is a little smaller on the galant so get a clutch to go with the same engine your flywheel came from

early 92 1gs were 6bolt. I believe anything made before May, everything else 92 - 99 is 7bolt. The 92-94 7bolts are better than the 2g 7bolts aas they do not crankwalk as much.

But 90-99 clutches for turbo eclipse/talons/lasers are the same. And the galant 5spd tranny can use a DSM clutch as well. As for flywheel, any FWD 7bolt flyweel will work, aftermarket or stock.
