Key for 8G -- all blanks the same?

When I bought my 2003 G, the dealer said that the keys have some kind of security chip in them, so you have to order more keys from Mitsu.

I see that you can buy blanks on eBay that look exactly like the key I have, so they look like they have A security chip in them.

Are all the security chips the same, or does it have to match your car in some way?

As long as they key has the chip in it, it can be cut and programmed for your car. However you will still have to have someone program it which is what costs all the money. https://www.thegalantcenter.org/style_emoticons/default/wink.gif

yah its like 50 bucks for the key and 95 to program it over here in my area thats a damn shame
