mitsubishi really messed up on that one...what's with all the shitty evolutions of cars coming out of japan lately? I mean the 03 civic Si sucks real bad, the Galant, the eclipse, the loss of the B-series motor...(grr....that's personal!), the 350Z (where's the god damn turbo?!?!), i mean the list goes on and on. Oh yeah and the RX-8...that thing doesn't even deserve the name RX.

noone bought the RX7 or 300Z with the twin turbos

it's just a matter of economics, they couldn't afford to put all that money into R&D and then have th car flop.

it's sad, but it's the way of life. https://www.thegalantcenter.org/style_emoticons/default/sad.gif

you guys keep forgetting, you live in America, an SUV driven car market. the car market here just blows, and gets worse by the year. car companies put less and less effort and interest into building sleek cars. they will always be offered to the richies, but interest keeps going down and down.

I don't personally like the car in any trim line...its just not my taste. I am just curious how the Japanese Galant will look like. Like the Accord...the USDM and the Accord outside the states look completely different and carry different powerplants....hmmm :?

Does Mitsubishi always wait this long to release their new lines? Its almost 2004 already, other company's 2004's came out in the summer.

I'm wondering if this thing failed too many customer surveys and won't even get released.

i would doubt that it wont get released based solely on the fact that somebody who owns one already posted in this thread.

as a matter of fact when i bought my galant the dealer was complaining how mitsubishi cant compete with other japanese manufacturers b/c they wait so late to get the new models out. so i guess this is something mitsubishi does often

in my personal opinion, the car looks awful
even though the new powerplant is a 3.8L v6, the entire car is hefty and i bet the power/weight ratio is crap

yeah, no joke. i totally agree (although the rx 8 handles pretty well, and i wouldn't mind driving either the z or the rx8) japan is really feeding the us auto market crap, but what else would you expect, we've been getting shafted for years. jezez, the evolution took years and 7 generations to finally hit our shores and we dont even get active yaw? its all total bs. :x

I remember seeing this car at the New York Auto show and the first thing that came to mind was that it looked like a Saturn Ion on steroids. When it comes time to replace my currenlt Galant, I can guarantee it won't be with one of these.

I don't think Japan is "feeding" us crap...what they have is pretty much it, what the claim and have is actually on the car(s). Its just that the US market is at a totally end of the automotive market spectrum...plain and simple, Americans want BIG and BEEFY cars, which is why SUV's dominate the American roads...and as for the Japanese automakers...they are just catering to the Americans so they won't loose total grip on their presence in the US automotive market.

well it wasn't so much the R&D as it was the warranties...THose sequential twin-turbo systems had a nasty tendency to break down quite a bit, and the warranty had to be honored. Not to mention the uber-high sticker price.
I understand what they're doing, it just sucks...

I love it, I think the styling is fresh, new, and innovative. I tend to think there is something ugly on every new car that comes out, so I am sure that after I drive it, any small flaws that I first saw will seem null and void.

I just don't like it either--it kinda looks like the Maxima, supposedly in the same market as a maxima--if that's the case--just buy a new maxima--what's 3000 more dollars over 5-7 years, I hate to say it but in the maxima, IMO you'd be getting a better car. Besides, in another post some said they raced the 9G GTS(on a test drive) vs. a 3.5SE Altima ('03)--the Altima gave it to the 9G 2X--so verdict --performance--get a maxima, if you don't have that kinda money--get an Altima 3.5SE.

The Altima carries more power, but the Galant carries more torque. So whats more important, HP or torque? also, the Galant is still catagorized with the Altima as the new Diamante is in catagoery with the Maxima...yes, but with both the Altima & Galant starting at $21k for a V6, the Galant carries much more features, so I guess then it just deoends on how you drive it...plus the new 7yr 100k powertrain warranty is really nice...
