I entered into the galant world 5 years ago racing on a dirt circle track with a 95 galant. Read and researched a bunch in that first season and approximately a year later I purchased this rare GS. I spotted it on a C.L. ad with no photos, not running, owner stated it was a 95 model with broken timing belt and it was 300 miles from me. After confirming over the phone that it had the "GS" letters on the trunk I paid $100 sight unseen. Towed it home discovered the valves were bent and the engine needed full rebuild so it sat untouched for a year (except for the 5 speed and other parts I removed to keep the race car running) while I decided what direction to go with it. Dreamed of converting to awd after reading and drooling over eclipsh's build simply because of the snow and ice a majority of the year. Never thought I could afford that route until a wrecked 98 GSX landed in my lap, at that point I had the direction and the major components so the work began. My focus has been a reliable, inexpensive, long term sleeper so went w/ACL race bearings, toga pump, kevlar belt etc. Finished it recently at least enough to drive it somewhat legally and am loving it.
The near future plans are to to ditch the t25 and install the tube manifold w/20g or Holset from my Dodge, fuel pump and injector upgrades, mandrel exhaust and tune dyno session.
Future wants are the rare front bumper with brush bar, a couple inches of lift and maybe a clean low profile roof mounted light bar. What can I say I like the off road rally look.
The words of wisdom I offer you is research, research, research ask questions and budget. There is no way I would have tackled this build, learned of the GS or continued racing my dirt car without the help I receive from the TGC community. I want to thank those that answered pm's, and contributed on the TGC forums and builds.
