This is noob but.. what the hell is exactly mags?
I hear people throwing the word around... and to be honest mags look just like rims. Any differences?

Mags is short for magnesium alloy wheels... which I don't think those are. Must be some NZ slang 8)

Yea, mags do come from the old magnesium wheels they used to have.... if you talk to some of the younger guys here, they use the term rims. Most people 20+ use the term mags.....
Actually its common US slang too. Mostly with older domestic hotrod types. Plainly so because their wheels were exactly that, magnesium alloy. Custom wheels came to be known as "Mag Wheels" the term stuck, even to this day many people still call them "mags".Quote:
