To anyone out there running either D2s or Megans...
How do you like them?
Any opinions on D2 vs. Megan?
bonus question: On Megans can you adjust preload and ride height separately like on D2s?
Thanks in advance fellas, any help is appreciated.

The answer is both have separate preload and ride height adjustments.
The only real difference is that D2 offers different spring rates, which really isn't necessary. My megans feel and perform great for the money. I know the D2s and Megans retail at similar amounts, but in all honesty if you are just doing it for mild performance gains it really doesn't matter if you get D2 or Megan. or Tein, and Ksport for that matter.
Though if really given the choice I'd do the Tein SSP with EDFC or JIC Magic coilovers.
I have the megans as well, unless you're doing hardcore track days, either D2's or megans will be fine. My car is a daily, and the ride quality is still very good considering the car is very low.
I don't have either, but I've been lusting after coilovers, so I read a lot about them. From what I've seen, D2s are rebuildable, and Megans are not.
megan offers different spring rates as well and they are $90 a set if im not wrong
why would you wanna get them rebuilt if you can buy replacement shocks for $100 bucks ??
stewi has the megan racing and he is gonna run them with a different a rate springs for the track
i love mine, i have them set to the softest which is a little bouncy but i will change the spring preload which should stiffen it up a lil bit and im good to go
I didn't know you could buy replacement parts for coilovers, that's good to know.
Was this issue ever resolved? Have the Megans been redesigned?

Do the D2s have a similar flaw?
d2 customer service i unrivaled.
when i wrecked my black GS i destroyed one of my dampers.
i needed a new strut, and the lower cnc'd billet aluminum piece that interfaces the strut with the strut fork.
i called d2 in NC, guy picked up the phone on the first ring. The dude spoke perfect english(not engrish)
ten minutes later I ordered a new strut for 60 shipped.
arrived literally 2 days later.
As for "hardcore track days"
i autocross competitively for points, i've driven the living shit out of my car on several occasions in the canyons at Deal's Gap... I've hit the drag strip, i've driven across country, i drive in the city every day, street raced, and i'll be attending several track days at kentucky's new road course this year.
I have zero complaints. They've never let me down.
I'm going to really put them to the test when I get a set of race tires for this season.
Highly reccomend them, I own them, 3 of my buddies in 4 different cars have d2'sthey are equally as pleased.
Thanks for all the feedback dudes, I'm leaning towards the D2s as of now. I heard someone mention the Megans being to able to run real low, which is what I'm going for... do the D2s generally not go as low as Megans?
DOHCstunr: In the long run there is no better piece of mind than good customer service and being able to replace little parts rather than dropping hundreds when things go wrong. Now, do you think I'll be able to benefit from this customer service if I buy my coilovers on eBay or did you and all of your buddies buy from authorized dealers?
the megans do run really low, I'm fully slammed in the front and I can't fit my finger in the gap
the rears you can tuck tire no problem.
if you lowered the d2's as far as they can go..... you wouldn't be able to move the car once you lowered it back down.
hmm.. interesting, I'm still leaning towards the D2s
stunr... in order to get that customer service did you buy your D2s from an authorized retailer? I only ask cuz I'm thinking about getting them from ebay but I'll pay a little extra elsewhere if I can get good support.
I bought mine from.... modern automotive performance... I think.
but any of the times i've called i called D2 directly, as i've never had any warranty issues with them.
or any issues really lol.
You can buy them whereever you want. They come with a warranty registration card. D2 wouldn't sell them to anyone who isn't (factory authorized) you know?
if one of d2's vendors sold in bulk to some ebay retailer, that lets say... isn't authorized,
then you'd expect to see a higher markup from those vendors.
Just buy them whereever you can find the cheapest price(so long as you trust the seller that is). D2 stands behind their product so you won't have any worries there.
customer service for megan racing is good as well, you can buy any part for them, i've spoke to them on the phone and they were very helpful
Id you are going to buy either the Megans or D2s just buy from one of TGC's vendors like Import Car Parts Plus, or Qs. And I could slam my megans easily another 2", and so much so in the rear I'd look like I had airbags.
so i guess its purple or red.
or you could check some other sites for... more "technical" feedback.
other than just "i have them, i haven't tried anything else, these are the best, and i like them" type of reviews.
lol, Im feelin the purple too
I was making the same choice you are now, I went with the megans because my valve cover and other bits match the red on the megans nicely

Ordered the D2's yesterday, should have 'em in by saturday!!
Got em for a pretty good deal at $830 shipped, the name of the place is Weak Sauce (wierd, I know), but they're pretty helpful over there.
