How many people here got their Galant because thats what they wanted. What made you get a Galant? I always hear people complain about their Galants, ex: price, looks, power, etc. I never hear about why people pick Galants.

I got it because I always wanted one. I always like them, my cousins grandparents bought a 6g and I liked it and my friend in highschool had one and I liked it. Then I really liked the 7g's when they came out. And damn when the 8G's came out I was in love!!! I used to look at those and be like damn,..that shit is hot. I used to have a truck when I used to look at them then one day we decided to buy a new car and guess what I got!!!!!
i dont know about anyone else but i had my choice of cars when i got a lant i was in a accident and got some good cash to play the car feild with i looked at a a4 with 10k on it i looked at the jetta and ofcourse the eclipse (99) older subaru and m3 with about 20k on it and a 300zx and a older rx7 but in the end i when i saw the galant i hate to sound retarded i just was like niiiiice somethign about it so went in the day after signed the pappers and drove off the lot with it and even tough i have regreted buying it because of the after market parts availability problem and even almost sold it for a is300 i cant seem to now im about to pour in a lot of money to make my lant somethign no one else has seen unless something bad happends to this car (knock on wood) i dont see myself ever parting with this car my kids will be drivin it 8)
We wanted a Galant too. We had a GMC Sierra at the time and we didn't really need it. My dad figured we needed a family sedan. (It's gotta be pretty had to decide that considering that he's had domestic muscle cars all his life) At first, we wanted a BMW but couldn't afford it and since the 8G kinda resembles, we decided to get one. Rather than getting a 2001 for $22,000, we got a 2000 for $12,000. (First year depreciation is a bitch huh.)
I wanted this car from the "get-go".....The only thing is, wished I had gotten the V6.......
well actually i had looked at getting one a while back, but i ended up getting a diamante instead. drove it for about 9 months, loved the hell out of it and then one day a huge hell storm came, $6500 worth of damage. https://www.thegalantcenter.org/styl...efault/sad.gif So i opted to sell the car with damage and insurance check and i actually came out ahead $2000 dollars more than what i paid for it. I found a good deal on an 02' galant, always liked foreign cars, love my diamante so why not try a galant. So i bought it, i love it but i still miss my diamante. the galant is obviouslt nowhere near as fast as my diamante nor near as nice. I just loved my climate control. But i like it, its a good car, and i've turned it into a nice project.

i been looking at them since 99 it took me three years to finally get one just the way i wanted it. GTZ!! in silver
I was at UT at the time we got our first one in 99, and according to my dad they didn't like domestic brands, and the Camry and Accord didn't quite make the impression on my parents because we've never owned one and neither did our friends, so when they saw the price on a Galant they jumped on it, plus it looked good and my brothers loved it in Gran Turismo. As for the second V6 we got it was because we had 3 hours to shop for a new car basically and the dealership gave us repeat customer treatment so we stuck with 'em.
Reasons I got mine:
price, looks, power, etc.
Seriously, I wanted a four door sport sedan w/ somewhere in the neighborhood of 200 hp, 16 in rims stock. In 99, for the price nobody could touch the Galant in that category. I feel the same way about them used right now as well.
3 reasons:
[LIST]Friend recommended b/c of Sept. 1999 Car and Driver magazine ranked #1 in sedans under $20,000, beating Toyota Camry, Honda Accord, Nissan Altima, Dodge Stratus, Oldsmobile Alero, Hyundai Sonata, and Chevy Malibu.[*]Style and value. All the others were so ordinary and played and the Galant was so stylish and different... fresh. Plus more features for the buck.[*]Same engine as the Eclipse. Knew that if the Eclipse has the same engine, there would be plenty of aftermarket support for it. Of course later found out that even Chrysler and Dodge were using the same engine too.[LIST]
i got mine cuz my ex just got an M5 and the galant was the closest thing i could afford that resembled a bimmer
I got a 98 galant es, when my 90 passat lost reverse...
the deal couldn't be beat..0 down, and 215 a month with moon roof, cd changer and alloy wheels...
then they offered me a get out of my lease early, and not worry about my 98 being over the alloted mileage...so I got my 2001 in 2000...
I love the car...for the price can't be beat...and I love the looks..like pinoy said "looks like a Bimmer"
When I was going out to get my car for my birthday, I only had 500 dollars to put down on a car. First the Car Dealer showed me a Mazda 626 but I didnt get it, because it didnt have room and it was a stick. The car that i really wanted was a Mustang Saleen with a turbo or supercharger kit, I dont really remember which one it had. But it was totally out of my money league. Next the car dealer showed me the Galant. I saw it from the side, and I was like "damn that car is hot, I can pick up mad hoes in that car", So I got it. I love my car, when I get out of my car, I always glance back at it about 2 - 4 times.
I was down to either an Accord or a Galant ... and since everyone in my family, my street, my city and their dog's drive Accords... therefore I went for the galant.
I got my Galant after i totalled my old ride, on New Year's night of 2000.. about a month later went shoppin around didnt see anything that peaked my interest and nobody really had anything so i got the G-ride, and well hell i really dont like HOndaz, and i thought it could be a really fast ride.. Almost 2 years later and 2 motors, a whole lotta mod, she can do 13's juice 14-15's N/A...
I wanted a Lancer (what was I thinking?????????????) but Todd kept pushing me to the Galant, and since the car was going to be in his name, I went and looked, and LOVED IT. I love my car so much we are Thinking about adding a v6 .
my mom gave it to me
the amount of love i got for my car it kinda spooks me i think i need to go see a shrink lol i dont think ill ever have another car that i like as much it piss's me off when i cant find stuff that you can get for every other car so easily but over all its so worth it i think when you do get that part youve been looking for eons and you finaly get it then going out to the shop and getting it right away even tough that would be nice as well lol not gona bs easy things if something happend to my car god forbid before i finished it i probably would get another one tough i could probably afford most cars mentioned here at the moment... did i mention the need to see a shrink part?... you guys just wait and see what i do to this car 8)
Well, I have bad credit so I didn't have too much of a choice when I got to the car lot. The dealer gave me a choice of a Honda, Dodge, Nissan pick up, or the Galant. I had noticed the Galants around but never paid attention to what kind of car it was. When I was looking at it in the dealers lot, I realised how much potential it had in customizing it's looks. I also did realize that it favored a BMW 5 series. Even the day after I bought it, I went back to the dealer to get my stuff out of my trade in and the manager was there looking at it and was talking to another salesman about how he thought it was a BMW at first. I started to fall in love with it more and more as I was customizing it. Sometimes, I go outside to catch some air and will sit there and stare at it for a long time. One thing I can say about a Galant, You could be at a light next to some Bimmers and Benz's, and a customized Galant will attract as much attention as the luxury cars do. Only complaints I have about the car is not enough aftrmarket stuff and those damn seats. It's next to impossible to try and retrieve something you dropped inbetween them while driving. Or even while parked. i have to get out, pull my seat all the way forward, go thru the back door and get all the way down to be able to get what I dropped...Anyone familiar with this?
My best friend had a 97 5-speed and we used to just hit the clubs with it, aahh so many memories. And then when the 8th generation first came out in 99 I was like I am going to get one, well 3 years later I got one and I love it.
Actually bought the Montero Sport at the same time I bought the Galant, guess I'm a Mitsubishi man (family) 8) 8) 8) . Now my good friend is thinking about a Galant hope he gets one as long as its not the same color.
