Thats a shame about your Dad's Challenger :( Thats a beautiful car! I would be hot if my Dad sold one of his classic cars too. He's had his '67 Chevelle Malibu since I was a baby and a '65 Mustang since I was 5 yrs old too. He already knows Im inheriting those and there's no way out of it! LOL!
Officially said goodbye to the Challenger a couple Fridays ago.

And here are a few pictures of the new exhaust from the underside. 2G GST exhaust fits the same as the 3G ;)

Nice!
is that rust?
so glad i live on the west coast.
Yes sadly. That's what 8 Minnesota winters will do to a car. And the 2 I drove it in, I did my absolute best to keep it clean. It's inevitable.
I bet it sounds good too. That big can right near the beginning of it makes a nice deep tone on my brothers gst.
thats just the muffler?
Nope, the entire GST catback.
and it fits perfect bolt on? cat backs for gst are usually cheap lol
Its 100% bolt on for the 3g. And since we only have to extend the axle back section of a 3g catback, the same rule applies for the 2g catback.
Interesting thinking I might get one
I can kinda understand a 3g exhaust bolting up since they came with a v6 as well, but the fact a 2g exhaust will, and they were only 4cyls, kinda has me scratching my head lol. Nice
Matt how did you go about doing the 2 resonators? I know I'm gonna have to do it to eliminate the rasp too.
The resonators are already part of the catback out of the box.
We need a video, I'd like to hear it..
Is this for any cat back? I'm the market at the moment lop.
Please show a rear end pic and a video! What to hear this!
I wonder how close this is to fitting on the Rage?
It is truly the craziest sounding galant in the states. Matt I think we need to take a video.
I also have a birthday present for you...
Enough tease and more video! Lol. You put this catback on an actual gst and it does wonders. I can only imagine what it does for a big bore v6.
I picked up 15whp on my 3.6 when I was running on 4 cylinders...
Thing with Matt's car is it was open headers before. lol. I haven't heard from him in a few days though, hope everything's okay.
Everything is ok, relatively speaking. I've just been laying low lately and taking care of a few personal things. I almost took some video this weekend, but decided against doing anything car related while up in Duluth. I did however, manage 28mpg on my trip.
Justin, if you have any free time this week, I wouldn't mind getting together and getting a few sound clips of the exhaust for both cars. I may even setup my tripod for a few clips later today, who knows.
I'm out of town this weekend, but next weekend I'd be down for engine mounts and sound clips. Did you get my text..?
No I never got it. But did I hear you say engine mounts?!? Please tell me you found a rear mount so I can ditch my shattered aluminum remains.
Better late than never, but here is an exhaust clip as promised :)

oooh that sounds great
There was a small gathering at Silvertune's place yesterday for a few small but great projects. This brings good news.
Early picture to kick it off.

For anybody installing Prothane motor mount inserts, THIS is why you sleeve your mounts.

...and change all of them at the same time.

The new ones before going in. Fully sleeved with no slop in the bolts. My much hated wheel-hop has been eliminated and the front wheels feel nice and planted. It was long overdue.

And those ugly little firewall tabs on the 3G strut bar that we don't need... goodbye.

New member gojirars also made it over so we were able to meet him, and we got him setup with the 6g72 tb on his 4cyl. It was a good day to be had by the MN 8G/3G group.

This is how I just sleeved mine
http://i847.photobucket.com/albums/a...562CF80EEE.jpg
Just out of curiosity what did you use to sleeve it? I used a 3/8 steel nipple...
Ace carries the steel sleeves. I've been selling a kit on club3g for awhile now.
That 3g looks the business!
^Because it IS! It belongs to Silvertune.
On a side note, the car is done for the year (minus the dyno day on the 20th)
A destroyed bumper, and a screw through the sidewall of a tire are my telltale signs that enough is enough for a season. With that said I will be taking it out for the Mitsubishi Dyno Day on the 20th to get some official output numbers for the 6G75 with ported intake manifolds and throttle body, and the 3" exhaust. I'll throw a mismatched tire on the rear since I won't care about cosmetics, just to get me to MAP. Other than that, expect the final numbers I plan to put down with the 75 in 2 weeks.
If all goes to plan, it will be pulled and done with it's life in my Galant after that. Major changes are on the way.
You've have led the way for so long Matt. First 75 with the 5 speed... I wonder what's next! :)
Feel free to wonder. Just know it might have a slight silvertune esque twist on it.
In short, it will be the highest revving 6g7x to date in an 8G ;)
Capable of more than the factory tach can display. Though most likely I'll keep conservative enough for it to last.
Now i'd love to see a high revving 6G7x
7 is terrifying on the big block. Downright terrifying.
Matt I don't know how you're going to pull off 8k. Not mechanically, that'll be fine, but in your gut. Lol
