Seems like theres the same amount of material there compared to the side you wanted to tap. Also looks like theres a ton of material to tap into right where the boss for the inspection bolt is.
Heres a pic of the CBRD motor I was talking about.

Yeah i spoke with Austin from STM and he said there was maybe two rows of thread on those holes but it held up fine on this car and it ran 8s @ 180mph. But I think my valve cover should be fine for venting.
Picked up all the parts today.

paint that block before its rust anymore!!
I'm gonna strip it real good and paint it. Just need a bit warmer weather to do it so the paint will cure properly. In the mean time the block, crack and head were sprayed with wd40 and shrink wrapped.

nice man! Ive heard of the breather on the block through the evo guys as well. I was thinking of doing the same but eh... I have a vented dipstick and the -6AN valvecover breathers.
I got few things in the mail
Eastwood tig welder

Awww snap your gonna have fun with the welder. What are you gonna weld thats ss?
I have some ss AN fittings I wanna weld on the power steering reservoir and I wanted to weld a 12an fitting on the oil pan so no more bolts vibrating loose and leaking. So ss rods are needed to weld ss to mild steel.
Which machine did you go with?
Tig 200 ac/dc
Outstanding Job Keep up the Good Work And have the G Looking Legit
Wish you mentioned you were on the market for aN entry level tig, I bought one of the Eastwood tigs but I found out it lacked lots of adjustability. Searched and found the ahp alpha tig kicked it's butt and was only $100 more.
I compared Everlast, ahp and Eastwood. I decided to go with Eastwood cuz their warranty was the best. They pay for shipping both ways when sent it for repairs while the other two didn't pay shipping and u have to cover that. That was the only deal breaker for me.
Been practicing welding. Still lots more to go. Yesterday and today I worked on the car. Engine bay is empty. Trimmed the radiator support to fit the 3" ETS intercooler behind the jdm bumper without having to cut the bumper. Also battled the harness to remove the fuse out of the bay, it was such a hassle doing that.

What are your plans for the harness and how much power are you planning on?
Right no nothing is planned for the harness. Maybe over next winter I will probably do some trimming and some tucking and maybe even relocation the fuse box to the trunk. The pic shows the fuse box section of the harness. The main harness is still in the bay. I don't feel like taking the heater core out to take the full harness off.
As for power, I'm shooting for 30psi if I can. Using an EBC for boost so I don't just burn rubber at a stand still.
I know my limitation is going to be the transmission. A little bird told me what u r doing about your transmission issue but that's not what I want to do.
lol a lil bird, if you mean Brian then yea Im taking what ever he has left.
Intercooler fitted. Bumper has a small flex but that's not an issue at all. Modified the crash bar to fit with the intercooler but now the bumper won't fit. So going the tubular way with it. Mocked up my bends with some conduit.

Where were you lacking room, front or sides of the crash beam.
As for the tranny I still have one idea for it but it would probaly cost what a whole evo trans and tcase would cost, maybe more. I wish I wouldve started out with an evo 8 turbo instead of a 400 + turbo at least this way I couldve started out with low hp and worked my way up until something broke. Atleast this way I couldve kept it under the limit after the rebuild and stayed with that. Less down time for me = more seat time just not as fast.
Wow. I'm glad I found this. This is probably the coolest thread I've read yet. Forgive me for jumping in like this, but after all 26 pages of reading in a row, I felt like I just put down a good short book. I love what you've done here. Thank you!
Finally finished the crash bar. It fits perfectly inside the bumper.

Welded a 12AN fitting on the oil pan. My weld isn't all that great. Welding in a circle isn't my greatest skill yet lol

Looking good....
I like the crash bar design, how did you bend the black pipe. Are you new to welding cause your welds look pretty good for a beginner,,, coming from another beginner lol?
You can thank Brian for the idea on the double beam crash bar. I have a friend who bent them for me after I gave him the conduit I bent to my desired angles.
Thank you, I never welded before. Unless u wanna consider the two times I attempted mig years and years ago. Recently I attempted to reweld the bottom radiator support seats. That held up on but it was terrible lol.
As far as tig, this is my first time trying. Been welding every night for the last two or three weeks. Already finished a full bottle if 125cf argon and I'm on my second one.
Thats awesome, yea the gas goes quick!
I was welding for about an hour per night. Some nights even longer. Until the torch got too hot to the touch.
Brian said u were in the market for a tig. For the price and the warranty u can't go wrong with the Eastwood unit. But if u got more cash to blow then a Miller is a good option.
He must be confused I actually own a Thermal Arc 186 since Sept 15' same model he owns.
Probably I was gonna go buy a Diversion 180 but he talked me into a TA 186, Im very happy with it.
Some parts arrived today. No more ebay intercooler and no more overheating. More parts are on the way.

Which IC did you get?
Stripped the rusty area to give them some rust treatment before I dig any deeper. Going to use a cup brush on an angle grinder to strip it down to bare metal then soda blast the hard to teach areas.
