already tried that once haha, snapped an axle on the way there and had to turn around. I was PISSED. maybe this summer, we'll see.

I swear the MOD trip is the avatar for Murphy's law to rear it's ugly head! I never knew you tried to make it. I hear you man when I made it all the way there too late due to other cars breaking down I was LIVID!
No joke! Couldn't even get a damn burger.
build looks like it is going great, I still have to wonder the same as the other Matt with tuning the ECU for boosted engines just because I want to learn more about tuning the 4 cylinder 8g's
speaking of MOD trip break downs*sigh* at least you weren't chasing a coolant leak for 8 hours the night before MOD at a rate that would have limited my driving range, and I still didn't find it in the morningQuote:

Personally I think that was the perfect choice. That's the first thing I noticed when I looked for the fmic in the picture...just enough to give those in the know a clue, there's some things going on behind the scene. Death usually doesn't give a warning... so when your car looks like the grim reaper on wheels, why give a heads up with a blinged out fmic lol. Congrats with the boost
Shut itttttttttt!
Tuning isnt that hard. Its reflexive just like the human body. Or at least thats how I think of it to keep everything straight.
Damn! Nuff said :) Everybody who knows about cars instantly is like oh wtf its boosted? And proceed to ask me questions. My wife has yet to notice its boosted and she passes it every morning MUAHAHAHA!
Today I stopped and thought about it. I got hookup on a lot of stuff and traded tuning for a good deal of parts. So far my tally for the turbo setup is $475 LOL!
I got the custom downpipe done up today.

Sooooo quiet yet deadly, Ebay exhaust + T3 turbo = win. I'm amazed I havent thrown a CEL cause there is no cat and no spacer in there. This of course threw the open dp tune all out of wack. Did some quick 20-30 minute tuning. Scaled the maf to comprehend all the air, then did some timing/fuel adjustments. I'll play with trims and stuff tomorrow.
Oh shit, Marc, Martin, and Jigz in one state would be BANANAS. lol
AWWWWW shit! Would be so rad.
The wife and I have wanted to take a road trip down to Cali for a while but havent had the funds to do so. Maybe one day we'll plan it around MOD and I can meet up with You and Matt and cruise down with the Galants/3G!
We need a vid of the exhaust setup!
I will! I believe I got it just broken in. Didnt see any smoke when I drove it home a few minutes ago. I imagine it will get deeper from the heat of the turbo this week. oh and of course I took the silencer out now that the turbo is in and its quiet enough to have a conversation without feeling like you are shouting in cabin. Remember my cabin is stripped down inside.
So I grabbed one of the pulls I did today (have been tuning up to 5k rpm so far) and threw it in Virtual Dyno for the hell of it to see what I get and to my shock.....

WTF?! Drivetrain loss on the auto tranny is probably about 20%.......If the car was manual swapped it would probably be around 12%. 20%-12%=8% difference......
223 whp and 257 wtq would more than likely be around 241 whp and 278 wtq...........LOL already beat Ivory's power level.
Hahaha! We'll see how the auto tranny puts up with this first LOL
pulled the airhorn off of the 501 maf so it will flow like a 399 (evo maf)

Flashed evo maf scaling and smoothing and whatnot. Car idles a lot smoother as well as pulls better through the rpms. Adjusted the timing some more as well as fuel.
Last night I got the barometer totally wrong. Definitely not 24 inches here anymore. Its 29-30. That makes a huge difference lol. Makes more sense with what it feels like. I was beginning to worry that being in the evo was throwing my sense of power off or something.

Red was yesterdays run and blue was todays.
I also took out the spring in the wastegate and found out it was only a 5 lb spring!!!! LOOOOL not bad at all for 5 lbs of boost and sitting at 200 whp! Pulled the 5lb spring out and put in the 15lb spring. Hehe, stay tuned.
only 5psi, holly shit, keep it up
Wow, can't wait for the 15psi pulls this is going to get nasty
I know right?! I couldnt believe it! This is why I love my 60-1's. Glad I did all that flow charting and math back in the Ivory days
Me either! I'm shooting for 300 whp. 350 whp absolute max depending where the torque is and how smoothly I can make it come on when boost hits.
Just out of curiosity about how much you think is safe to make on stock internals..cause I'm sure on stock internals it all comes down to tuning (and maintenance), and that's one of the reasons I like this build so much and that you tune it yourself. Tuning to me is like magic... I don't understand it but it makes things happen lol
Thanks sir! Haha that is a magical line.
I would say 300 whp is the most anyone should push it "safely" there are a few things you can do to squeeze the power out though.
On that note....

Torque freaking monster. So much air comes it at 4k the car freaks out.
I just slapped my desk and said "Hot Damn" out loud at work. Now I'm that guy in the office, but I don't care. Love this build!
HAHAHA!!!! Thats awesome!
Garret 60-1?
Pretty much. Turbonetics 60-1 Hifi
A/R .70? 4" intake?
4" filter down to a 3" silicone intake. The turbo is compact with a 2.75" inlet and A/R is .60 (fast spooling) The turbo flows only 5-10% less than the T04S variant
Nice numbers!
Got it. I got 60-1 .70 going to start with 20lb
Slim, how tha hell the car puts down over 100 more foot-pounds than horses? That's crazy!
Thanks!
Oh nice! Going to have some great top end!!
Tuning and I swear I have a thing for picking 64 powered cars like this. Ivory was the same way!
Ok so today as soon as I turned it up the car got really angry and the rpm's would seriously "hang" at 4.5k rpms and didnt want to go passed that. I knew it had to be something with the maf or scaling or something. After some troubleshooting (going over logs and seeing the maf capping out at 700 ish hz of airflow) with my buddy Matt (SPD_FRK) He was pretty certain it was the maf clipping as the V6's needed this to be defined in their xml to un cork the limit of airflow throughout the powerband so to speak. Sad day I didnt have that.
I hit up Isaurio and asked for his prowess in defining that for me and BIG BIG thanks to him he took care of it right away. Thanks a million bro you are super skilled! :)
I flashed the car and tuned away......10 minutes later.....

If I was 5 speed I would be around 316 whp and 340 wtq.
WTF
are you freaking kidding me,
and this is on 15psi,
are those real dyno numbers?
No joke! Remember its 15lbs on a t3 60-1 though.
Its Virtual Dyno. Keep in mind I've road tuned about 25+ evo's and this is within 1-2 whp of the mustang dyno local to me. It was spot on with my evo as well. The numbers also match up with my calculations. Especially the airflow hz as well as the injector duty cycle. I calculated around 70-80% at 300 whp on suby 440's and I'm at 73% idc. I will be taking this to a dyno when she's all done though just to concrete it.
LOL! I'm going to leave the power here for now until I go 5 spd. The auto I'm sure will not like this for long HAHA
i hope to see the same numbers with the evo8 turbo,
