Car looks terrible!
:055:
Now the fun begins, its coming out of storage! Hey btw, I won't need a pic of the bumper to show where you made the cuts for the muffler. Went with a diff muffler. I'll let you know the results when it's installed. Fingers cross for atleast a decently clean sound lol
Today officially marked day number one for my car season. It started as a simple trip 3 hours north to pick up the car and a set of wheels, but of course since a good portion of snow is melted near home it wouldn't be that way up north.

Luckily, we only had to shovel 1/3 of the driveway before paying a guy $40 to plow the rest with his truck.
And at long last, as the sun was preparing to set, the car was parked in a garage where magic happens tucked in and ready for some action next to Silvertune's Eclipse.

Aw shit now! No surprises, she rode fine?
Besides needing a battery, everything went well. It was great driving it again, especially since I've been stuck driving vehicles that are dull in comparison all winter long. Next time she's on the road, it'll be rocking a new clutch/flywheel combo, RS3's and an LSD. I cannot wait.
The LSD will be great you'll love it then with the clutch set up psshh your making me thirsty kidddd
^
LSD = win
I remb Dion old 74 ufff. And was untune and had no coilover it was wheel happing like crazy. That shit was nice. Lol
Cant wait for the 3.8
Heck yeah! Things will be getting very exciting in only a short time.
Should be exciting with both of your builds on the road here soon too.
Bearings and speedo gear arrived from Mitsubishi, and they are now on the wavetrac awaiting tomorrow's install. Big update coming in less than 24 hours ;)

Get er' done.
lol XD
Silvertune to the f'in rescue! Yesterday was the planned day for some awesome projects, but my body wasn't exactly cooperating with me so I had a major headache all damn day. Luckily Silvertune had no problem grabbing the bull by the horns and made incredible results possible.
More pictures and details are soon to come but the Galant was on the road before sundown yesterday with a new flywheel, clutch, and LSD. Here's a teaser.

Alright, now that I'm on a desktop, I can add all of the pictures in one post.
One bolt shy of pulling the trans.

Found out the rear main seal is leaking.

Overall picture with the trans removed.

Here's where things get interesting. This is the shifter linkage housing after pulled and the speed sensor.

The reverse idler gear removed. This is what sits inside the little cover on the bottom side of the trans. It's held in place by the torx bolt next to the fill plug.

A cool view inside the little inspection cover. The brass synchros clear as can be.

The case opened up. Everything looks healthy.

Glad those gears that are on the pin will no longer be in my trans. They're what blew the hole in my first manual trans.

Old vs. New

The last picture before assembly.

I didn't take any after pics because, well, it doesn't look any different externally. However it performs incredibly different. Now all that's left is tires, brakes, tie rods, an alignment, and of course, kicking ass in a Galant.
Beautiful!
Really interesting stuff everything transmission wise.
Ok so since I4's and V6's use the same LSD's, Can you or Silvertune tell me if using a v6 oem open differential on a I4 be an upgrade strength wise? I know It won't do much but if its stronger/beefier than the I4 I might try it since I can't afford a LSD. Srry for the small thread jack ;)
The factory differentials are identical. Both crack like an ice cube given a hard shift/clutch dump or any real amount of output.
Why the 5500 hang in 2nd gear?
Wheel spin...
Well damn! Pretty quick man, looks like fun!
Yay grip!! Very nice
You guys are making me think about a LSD more and more, and damn they are expensive (in my opinion lol)
Sounds beast, can't wait for the cammed and all the other good stuff videos to come:023:
Diff's are cheap. People spend a couple hundred shy on a drop, or on a JDM conversion, or an exhaust setup in many cases. There is nothing that changes the driving experience more than the LSD.
And to think that was on the crappy Continentals. When the RS3's are mounted, it's go time!
nice vid, i hope you were on your way to get gas, the needle looked on E
LSD's ftw, Matt, you should take a trip to a road course with the car, you'll really enjoy it
Oh trust me, this car will be on Brainerd Int'l Raceway's road course this summer. This July actually.
^X2 on that. Hope my G could see it too. I dying to take her to a road course and do some laps. LSD all the way. Let me see how much i grip with it. The 3G trani is going to scream my name. LOL
CEL on dash wazz up with that. LOL
We were actually hoping you could help us get rid of that. As well as get the MAF tables straightened up a bit because they need some work.
Cel is from not having a rear O2 sensor hooked up. obd2 apparently doesn't like that.
Reason for no o2?
Laziness, no doubt.
If one careth not about the check engine light than may no fucks be given for a rear o2 sensor.
I know on the 4 cylinder ecus there is a "force pass" emissions patch that is used if you're catless/don't have the rear O2 sensor hooked up, English racing tuned mine like that and I have no rear o2 or cat. I imagine something similar can be done a V6.
I'm sure its possible with the V6. I just don't know how to do it.
