Question of the day? how is your fuel trims? is the pcm giving the right values? how do you know they are correct and you get to tune it around that value. Last time i checked pcm used all the 02 sensor readings to give you accurate fuel trims values.
The car has been parked for 6 months so its been awhile since I've done any logging. I'll have to look into the fuel trims.
As far as the O2 sensor goes, its the downstream sensor that has been deleted. As far as I've known, it only monitors catalyst efficiency and being that I have no catalytic converter, I don't find it necessary. I understand that the upstream sensor monitors the air fuel mixture, and that is in place and functioning.
yeah, rear one is basically an emissions nanny, worthless on a catless car other than throwing codes
Guys you not understanding yes we know is for "emission". But mitsu hardwire = code all the o2 to do trims calculations. If you delete the pcm still looks for the readings and it could take out of wack your trims. Upstream do a real time fuel adjustment with the MAF at close loop. There also long term fuel trims that pcm only see that global value to adjust your trims at open loop. Fuel trims is calculates and store and whatever number is added or subtracted from your fuel tables. Making you rich or lean.
English racing has been doing rear O2 deletes on evos for years, no issues, I'll stick with what they know. anyways, let's get back on the topic of M-Rod's awesome car, when are we gonna see some dyno numbers/time slips???
^ i bet they running SD. Yeah you do that since you running an evo. Just trying to educated people i guess you have it down packed.
Yeah back to topic.
cant wait to see this at MOD. I have the "force pass" on my car and it works like a charm. I even plug it in to the emissions tester at work and it passes instantly. The rear o2 on my car just dangles under the car. lol.
The rear sensors do nothing for fueling, period. If they did the car would kick into open loop and stop developing trims when one or both go missing like it does the front sensors. This has been common knowledge since day one and I have tested it under every circumstance possible.
M-rod's fuel trims are spot on. I would know because I tuned the car, short term was 2% and long term was 2.5% and that was after 1500 miles of diverse driving on the same tune. The car dynoed on that tune and made one of the best NA dyno sheets ever produced by a USDM cyclone motor.
You guys have some funny priorities, it's a check engine light not a time bomb. This car runs better than 99.99999% of the galants on the planet, if the rear sensor caused even the slightest issue I would've found it a long time ago.

If you disable the rear 02 using the periphery bit on ANY ROM, it makes the fuel trims stop working.
Greddy, the dyno sheets and time slips should be rolling out in the next month or 2. I have a few things yet to do, plus iron out some details like an afpr and better fuel pump to handle the increased demand for fuel coming up. The RS3's are getting mounted tomorrow. I still need to find time to get the new inner and outer tie rod ends installed, then get the front end aligned. It's coming together, but my newborn hasn't exactly given me much free time. At least not the kind I was used to.
Probably not. The 482 maf is more than capable of handling the amount of air I plan to pull in.
oh poo, although sd is a lot better at throttle control and driveabilty in general is smoother :)
So I'm just going to deposit this here.

Matt can fill you in on the rest.
seems like she has a wee bit of pep in her step :D
lmao just a wee bit :P
That was legit
:118::thumb:That motherfucker's fast!!
That was a fun test run. It'll be nice once the tires are broken in to see what kind of traction they will end up holding.
Earlier yesterday at a place we call Silvertune Motors.

Soon after, once they were on the car.

And lastly, preparing for the end of the cracked bumper era. Smoothing and paint will come soon.

i want my own tire machine!!!
If I had the space, I'd definitely look into owning one, you could make so much $$ with one of those. I know so many folks who order from Tire Rack and places online that have to go get their tires mounted. I hope you guys are monetizing the fuck outta that machine :thumb:!
Rear Brembo setup and stainless lines installed in the rear thanks to Silvertune's random boredom.

Beautiful setup.
Also I can see why it hibernates during winter, to keep rust minimal.

Thanks Vic. Yeah up here, cars take a beating in the Winter. All the salt dumped on the roads has cars rusting out in no time. With all the money I've dumped into this one, I need to take every measure to make it last.
Just wait til you get a chance to step on the pedal Matt, just sitting there idling it feels way better and the front hasn't been touched yet.
And now with the entire setup installed, the brakes feel nice and solid. Between adding Brembos to the rear, stainless lines, fluid flushed with fresh DOT 4, and the Hawk pads, it should have no problem on Brainerd's road course when the time comes this Summer.
Not to clutter Matt's thread, but here is an MN car that came into the shop a couple of months ago.

This is what salt does to cars up here.
Oil pressure gauge showed up today. Installed pics should be posted within the next few days.

???? Boost?
BOOST! Do it up, Matt!
On the left side of the boost gauge it reads vacuum, that's what I'm monitoring with that one lol. Didn't mean to get anybody's hopes up with that one. The reason that exact gauge is in there is that I got it for free. Can't turn down that price.
That gauge cluster!
I have that same boost gauge in the Chevy. Moar eastside love. We haz matching Boost Gauges. Except my car will actually haz bewst!
Troll done. I come to this thread for inspiration. I love you, Matt. :homo:
I actually look forward to seeing outcome of the Chevy. I watched a video a few days ago with an old Chevy truck with a turbo 292. It had a very distinct exhaust tone and was effing fast.
On another note, when your 3G gets its 3.8 liter, you'll forget all about the Bel Air.
Turbo6? Big blue truck? Every piece of that engine is custom, down to the rods. The guy who races it and his brother are both machinists with Engineering degree's. I cant image the hours of R and D that have gone into the motor. It's cool too because the frame and suspension is all stock, albeit modified, but still stock components.
Also, this car is really nice. Given it's a 292 and has a different tone than my motor will, it's still a nice example of what can be achieved. The owner is also an engineer, and runs a company with custom one-off inline parts.

Um. What?
It reminds me of a cummins without the turbo.
Silvertune and I made a yard run today. Wasn't too much going on there, but it's becoming comical to me the parts we now leave behind. XG350 plenums, Diamante plenums, 6G74 fed spec exhaust manifolds, etc. I remember the days, those items felt like striking gold.
Besides leaving those behind, I did end up snagging a small detail that I am excited about. We came across a Galant DE that had all four doors, which resulted in a set of black door trims that will end up on my car. The last chrome item on my car will soon be gone!

Yesterday, I finished wiring up the gauges and they are now installed. Here is the final product. Don't mind the Instagram filter.
