I think it is strictly a track car.
Well I COULD register it but it will never past inspection with the AEM and no airbags. Road worthy,, not really it doesn't have the stock restraint system and its not exactly a good idea NOT wearing helmet in a caged car cause if some sort of accident does happen and you hit your head on it even with padding it could be very very bad. People do it all the time though and Im sure I would take it out on occasion in this manner to go the car wash or whatever but I would taking a big risk.
It was registered in NYS with no inspection for 2yrs and since I live in MD I didn't really care about getting pulled over with no inspection sticker. I had to surrender the plates in Sept 13' for renewal time since I couldn't produce an inspection. That's really the only way I can register it: get plates for 2 yrs with no inspection then surrender, let it sit for a few months then register again and start all over.
So yea its pretty much a track car only at this point which sucks cause I cant test drive it when ever I do any upgrades or maintenance. The shop I go to does take it for test runs but their in an industrial area, I know Ive mentioned that recently so I don't want sound conflicting.
So what tracks/events are on your agenda this year? My buddy with a mustang kicked ass at limerick in CT last year and he got me into autocross. Thinking about taking my Mazdaspeed3 to a few time attack events somewhere but don't know where to go
March- VIR, VA (missed it)
April- Summit Point, WV
May- NJMP, NJ
June- Summit Point, WV
July- VIR, VA
August- Summit Point, WV
October- VIR, VA
November- Daytona International, FL or Summit Point, WV
driving to Florida is a big maybe but really REALLY want to go. I actually talked to my wife about it last night and she said she was down.
You would have a blast in your MazdaSpeed3 you should really try to go. NASA and SCCA are pretty much the big dog clubs but theres lots of smaller ones too. Ive only run with NASA Mid-atlantic and a few times with the northeast region, there a great group of people that just enjoy racing and helping each other out.
There are those Time Attack events like GTA and Real Time and Im not exactly sure how they run as far as licensing but the general rules with most clubs is you have to start in the beginner run groups usually referred to as HPDE and work your way up the groups 1-2-3. Once your in group 3 you can go for your Time Trial license or your Competition license or go ahead up to group 4 which is pretty much all instructors. This is NASA's program that Im most familiar with and SCCA has something similar. Most of the smaller clubs follow NASA and SCCA's HPDE program outline.
Heres a website where you can register for many different clubs including SCCA. Make sure to look under driver school.

Man I wish!!
Solid numbers. I'm thoroughly impressed with how clean it sounds as well. Not too loud, but enough to let you know it means business.
*Smokey voice* That's my dawg! That's my dawg!
Great number Bryant! Car looks so beastly.
Thanks everyone!! Things went great last weekend, Weather was good and lots of track time. I signed up for the advanced group this time and after I passed my checkride I was good to go. I was little nervous at first especially after being off for like 4 months but after my first session I felt right at home. I wasn't the fastest guy out there by far but I wasn't the slowest neither and I didn't see any passing flags which means I wasn't holding anybody up. Daamn there were some fast guys out there.

Also nice dyno!
Thanks, I even got the chrome JDM door handles too!!
nice driving, what are you using for your footage?
Thanks, I use a Contour Roam2. Good camera and about $100 cheaper then a Gopro but there support sucks. Shouldve went with a Gorpro after all.
Your car straight up gets it in the straights!
yea the straights are fun!! Its the corners I need to work on.
Not much going on with the car lately, I decided to install the 24mm rear sway bar with adjustable endlinks last week. Ive been holding on to these parts for a long time waiting for the right time to install, I figure why wait any longer.
