I feel as if the factory HVAC controls stick out like a sore thumb.
But what do I know, I drive a 3G.
Nice going on the DE trims and the gaige layout, I like the HVAC in the middle vs the bottom for some reason
Best part of the deal is that I literally paid $6 for the entire set of door trim.
Man that is a good deal to change the overall look. Probably spend close to that just on paint and painters tape, if you were to paint the chrome ones lol
Finally after a long week of snow and rain, I was able to be productive again.
Started by spraying a few vital trim pieces.

And here they are on the car. The bumper itself still needs a little more work, but it's in better shape than it has been as of late.

As a small side project while I was messing with the Galant, I decided to help renew a few details to the Eclipse.
For any 3G owner, this is the cheapest and easiest thing you can do to bring a little life back into your front end. Gloss black Krylon Fusion rattle can. And here is showing the difference between the repainted and faded fake vents.

And after 45 minutes of dry time, on the car.

awwsome ! :)
Meh.
I am envious of the clarity on the fogs. My fogs are starting to turn yellowish.
JDM effect, bro!
Your grille hides them a bit though, right?
the front end looks good man. I like that plate cover lol
Wonder how long til you get pulled over for a missing front plate. I made it 150 yards.
Thanks Jared! Those pieces have been a life saver for my front end.
Justin, I've made it about 10 miles so far. Took Allie for a ride in it yesterday and it was hooking 2nd gear on demand.
Oh how's she like it?
She says it feels way better than it did last year. Had her looking for an "oh shit" handle through the s-curves near my place too
Looking good, I love that Galant License Plate cover. Did Jared sell you his or make you one?
Thanks Greg. I purchased the cover from Jared, along with the bottom center piece last fall.
Nothing too exciting today. Replaced the original ball joints. After 14 years and 158k miles, they have been retired. I was amazed at how easily they came out of the control arms. With a ball joint tool, they popped out without the fight one would expect from a northern car. All that's left before the alignment are inner and outer tie rods.
And with all of the front end parts being replaced and getting everything nice and solid up there, traction has arrived at last. Silvertune and I got together today and went out for a little drive. It's amazing what a good front end will do for a Wavetrac and good tires.

I recognize both those on ramps!
Which reminds me, I need to get my front end aligned. I haven't aired it out much because of the lack-luster alignment.
My car is louder. :duh:
The video is betraying. It was my first time getting the GoPro out of the box so it was still in the water proof case... drrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr.
More video to come, with a case that actually lets the sound in.
Sounds great Matt. Your transmission looks/sounds like it shifts really smooth. With the stock diff it pulls one way or the other for me, looks like that wavetrac helped correct that for sure.
oops! Like when I get my canon out and go to snap a pic with the lens cap on... smh haha.
Things are really coming together. I'm finally feeling out how well I can get this thing moving from a dig, and it's incredible for a torquey FWD car. It's ready for a 1/4 mile time slip. Time to get to the track and make it happen!
Dont break it now. Lol. Lets see some time. Good work
sounds niiiice. agree with isaurio dont break it lol
The plan is set in motion, drag strip on Saturday. This week is going to take forever now.
Also, in preparation for Powercruise, I have replaced the front struts. They were the factory originals, 14 years old, 158k miles. Absolutely blown.

Brand new KYB struts for the S-Techs. Dampening is revived.

I probably would have replaced the top mounts =X The bearings sound weird up there after awhile lol
youre taking this to powercruise? be interesting to see how it goes. i know with queensland powercruise over here, youd need 500hp minimum to keep up with most cars. some people are building cars purely for powercruise. is this the first one in your state?
Why no coils?

Keith, I was considering them but they were still fine luckily.
paulie, lucky for me there are a lot of street cars that I can be competitive with at the stateside powercruise. There are a lot of cars like you mentioned that are absolute beasts on the track. This year will be the 4th year that Dan has come over to the states to host powercruise for us.
Vic, I made the decision to spend my $1000 summer parts budget on the Wavetrac LSD ;) It offers much more than coilovers will for my purpose. Besides, new struts were less than $90.
Man the car looks torquey just from the video..and that sound is music to the ears lol.
Herp derp derp....the calm before the storm.......may record be smashed tomorrow! Glory awaits!
What glory? Ugh. Just getting back to the hotel room now after a night at the track. I am car 183.

Plenty of video was shot on Silvertune's gopro as well, which I imagine will take some time to get sorted out.
With the disappointment of a time ran, it was still fun getting a feel for things on the track. I ended up beating a few cars by nearly a second each time that I thought would be much closer. Some of those cars included a LT1 4th gen Camaro, bug eyed WRX, and a cammed mid 80's sbc grand prix.
Good times man, out of curiosity how long did it take you to gain traction? Thats always been my problem at the strip, especially since mine is very poorly prepped and with the dust coming off the cornfields it gets very chalky.
2nd gear is where I would finally hook at WOT. I was leaving the line at 1500 RPM which may have been too low. Silvertune was coming off the line at 2000-2500 RPM and mentioned even that still wasn't enough to come charging out of the gates. Notes for next time I get to the track :)
I found that launching to low to keep from spinning causes it to bog way too hard, if you launch closer to 2500 and slip the clutch it will get you rolling and keep it from bogging. You've got a good trap speed, easily enough to realistically break into the 13's with a fwd car, just gotta get that '60 down into the 2.0-2.1 range. I know that going from a high 2.3 to a low 2.2 took me from a 14.5 to a 14.2.
The bogging is exactly what was happening. Then I would get into the throttle a little too hard and by then my 60' was shot. I'll hopefully have some of the videos ready tomorrow after work.
Especially with street clutches if you don't slip them enough they seem to grab really quick, plus the engine doesn't quite have the power to keep it slipping. Just keep working on it and you'll get those times down.
Did you lowered your timing for lunching from 10 load and from 500-2500 rpm? If you did not lower the timing you will get knock and the computer will retard timing making it bog out.
When going to track you need lunching map. Having low timing at the lunch rpm.
