5 speed swap in process right now
My 6g72 over heated and warped the heads. The 4g64 is easier to work on and seems to have less issues. Plus, I think, more potential for power and more customizable. And I wanted to do the 5 speed swap. So I found a 2001 eclipse 4g64 5 speed that threw the timing belt. Got the entire car for $350.
Rezzy0. Read the thread on top. This is the step by step procedure. Lol. Go to page 1. All you need to know.. Lol.
You still haven't gotten yours done?
Or off photo bucket too

Nice..
Hello all. I'm a newbie to the forum and about to buy 2003 i4 galant. Really interested in doing the manual swap but the pics on page 1 are (broken?) and I can't seem to access the word docs posted by OMEGA PHX on page 14. Any help would be greatly appreciated, this is the best source for galant information on the net.
I went to the junkyard and pulled a 3g tranny with clutch lines, clutch and break pedals, master / slave cylinder, hard and soft lines, 3 harness pigtails, shifter assembly, flywheel, pressure plate, clutch and clutch fluid reservoir and sonata dohc for 146 and basically other then the dohc (lol) am I missing anything in my parts list for the swap I've done my research and see some posts about maybe using a 3g or evo ecu but I'm not sure if I need it I have a 03 2.4 es also what wiring needs to be done and how hard is it I must admit this is my first time doing anything like this but I was able to take these parts off so I'm pretty sure I can put them back on
It sounds like you got everything. Make a new thread when you start and post pics of the progress and you can ask questions in your thread and we can answer them for you. My 1st big project on any car was the galant 5 speed swap as well. Before that, the biggest thing I did was replace the radiator.
I saw you posted the same question in at least 4 different threads. PLEASE make a NEW thread for your swap and ask ALL your questions there. You can go ahead now and start the thread before you even start the swap. Post a pic of the car and all the parts you got. Thanks
