Any videos from the track?
thumbs up on the solid runs! just need to get out the box earlier and hopefully managing the traction to get your 60' down to 2 and youre hit 13's no problem! definitely reppin the galants!
Alex, what videos at what track? I made that timeslip in mspaint. Actually, I have them on my desktop but I've been too lazy to put them together. One of these days I'll get around to it.
Drone, I'm working on it. I'll be back at the track next weekend for a few days to get on the strip and road course. The only issue is with the drag racing at the upcoming event isn't timed. Theyre just off-street drags, but since it'll be on the strip, its good practice.
Damn bro, mspaint? I took you more for a Corel Paint guy.
The video is now uploaded.

Some good kills in that video man. Good stuff!
Please excuse my ignorance but why no helmet during the runs?
Thanks Marc!
Carl, once I realized I was stuck in the 14's I went without it. The track only mandates a helmet if you run a 13.99 or better. I wore my helmet at first expecting to run fast enough, but I couldn't figure out my 60' soon enough to get the car in the 13's that night.
Nice vid
Ah I see. With a little practice, I'm sure you'll get it. Best of luck.
Just getting around to seeing that vid, she's got a good bit of potential left in her. Inspiration!! Love what you've done so far Matt, keep up the good work.
You know, its funny in a strange way because last night I was able to attempt a few launches on a non-occupied stretch of road and launching at 2500 on the street seemed to make a huge improvement over what I did at the track. Oh well. 4 more days and I'll be back at it.
looks like your having fun out there, im surprised you got that many runs in. usually when I go see stewi run he only gets like 2 maybe 3 runs all day. what camera and mount are you using?
It was a blast. Gotta love "amateur night". It starts at 10pm and goes until 1am so there really isn't much of a crowd. The camera was a gopro with the suction mount stuck onto the sunroof.
Well tonight was a bit interesting. I'm not sure if this was ever covered in the past, so I'll share tonight.
I picked up a Godspeed 2G rear sway bar from Silvertune, in attempt to fit it on my Galant since it was in his scrap pile.
It had its slight differences but seemed it would be fine with a little modification.
First step was getting some metal out of the way under the spare tire well. This is just a brace anyway and does not affect inside of the trunk. So a bfh was used to pound like hell to make room.

So far things are looking good, right?

Upon this step it is realized the bar spaced a little wider than the 8G bar.

Not a problem because the 2G end links are oriented so that both studs face the same direction.

Except for the fact that it hits the rear toe arm. That one extra bend makes all the difference, and it's game over. This 2G bar will find itself in the scrap pile after all.

And that is why the 2G rear sway bar doesn't fit the 8G Galant (or 3G Eclipse for that matter)
At least the night was good for something, and I can share a picture of exactly how the 2G GS-T catback was extended.

is it a gsx rear sway bar? if so :) Have you tried flipping the lca 180 degrees and see if it fits?
It's for fwd applications. I tried coming up with pictures online and it appears the 2G has the bar in the same orientation as the 8G, but I think you're on to something. It may be able to fit over the toe arm without hitting anything. I might be able to attempt it once again at some point during the week.
and by rear lca I mean trailing arm.
Here you go same idea, but this is for the 2g AWD rear end.

Need a 2G GST/GSX or 95-00 Avenger/Sebring Coupe lower arms to use that swaybar.
The bar isn't worth it enough for me to switch arms. It'll find the scrap pile while I eventually find a 8G or 3G bar.
I finally got around to throwing a few clips together of roll races and other straightaway encounters from Powercruise. I'll sort through the rest of it and make other videos later, but in the meantime...

The Cobalt and the TC had hurt feelings for sure!! haha nice video
Haha. The Cobalt and tc owners are guys I hang with each week at the local car meet. It was kind of funny after we pulled off the track, we parked by our tents and the first words I hear are "Damn... all this time and I never realized your Galant was that fast."
Great vid bro looks really fun :thumb_rsvd:
Some good footage brotha!

that looks like incredible fun!
Man I wish we had something like that here, but solid rolls bro! Holding up against the gto and magnum. those zo6 are wicked, even I cant keep up with those guys. this video just really shows how strong your car is.
Is that cobalt the supercharged ss or the turbo?
Looks super fun though man!
It sounds like the sc ss. My friend had one. They are very fun to drive.
That was dope Matt! Pull after pull, she just keeps on trucking. I know the GTO and those other faster cars were like "the fuck? How is he getting it like that?"
Dang, I want a 3.8 swap now. Time to do some reading now.
Thanks for the good words guys! It was probably one of the most exciting weekends I've ever experienced. After my disappointment at the drag strip, it starts to put things into perspective when I'm holding my own and pulling on cars that run low 13's. Launching FWD will forever be my nemesis, but at this point I'll be happy knowing it's solid from a roll and on the road course. Hopefully soon I'll throw together some video of a few laps around the track. Although most of it's cruising around the track, I did find some time where a pack of us would maintain some good speed through some of the corners. Couldn't go too hard though because I wasn't in the mood to get kicked off the track.
^You're not kidding about the Cobalt SS/TC being superior in comparison to the SS/SC! I know most of the Cobalt/Ion/G5 group from my local area, and I watch them all try new things and every time it seems the turbo SS's own the supercharged SS's. The only thing that puts the supercharged SS's on the turbo level is replacing the M62 blower with the TVS and a smaller pulley. Then things start to get interesting.
^ Word. I would still rock all of those cars though, but if I'm honest I HATE the dash of Ion redline. Super ugly to say the least.
Yeah fwd launching sucks I tried drag racing this weekend
Did u guys adjust timing to launch the car?
From 800-5k at the 10 load cell u need to decrease timing by 5-8. One, when u try to 2 step at that load engine knocks and pcm will decrease timing. Making it a suck as already suck fwd launch.
If you dont have flash on knock u wont know what im talking about.
Love the cars power and interior..always liked the vids from inside your car cause you get to see both lol. But what crossed your mind when the truck broke loose @ 2:58 iirc lol. I know with my measly 6g72 I would've been like "clearly this is not going to end in my favor". And definitely with the vette lol Nice runs
