For any folks who know, what is the recommended tire pressure now that I have upgraded to 20" on my 9g? The new tires I have has 50PSI as the max on the sidewall, but I wasn't for sure if I should go up that high. The recommended for my stock wheels were 32psi, but I assume that it would go higher with the 20" tires, but wasn't sure if there was a "rule of thumb" to follow.
I have 20s I never go over 35 PSI
wow it looks good it flows with the grill
Depends on tire size and load index to be completely accurate. But, using the common load index for (225/35R20) tires *90*, that gives us a maximum load capacity of 1323lbs at MAX pressure. There is 'SL' Standard load rated tires that is what our stock tires are rated by. At 32psi, they carry 1157lbs.
If the 20" tires are 'SL' rated, they will carry 1190lbs at 32psi, which is well adequate to carry the required load for our cars. However, this should be mentioned since most 20" tires are 'reinforced' load (extra load) rated tires the load capacities are slightly different. This would be the case with the OP's tires taking a max pressure of 50psi, it is a extra-load tire. If we had a 225/35R20 90W XL it would require at LEAST 36psi to correctly carry our vehicles.
So, in other words, you SHOULD BE running at least 36psi front and rear.
