the adapters (for the injectors) and the tapped oil pan are currently being shipped to my house. should be there (both) by thursday. after that, i'll be getting the IC piping (Brandon: sorry i'm taking so long to give you the payment, exams this week. i should be able to send it to you by friday)
no need to apologize man i'll hold it for you dont worry
what else do you need to finish you setup?
Glad to see my EGT made it to a good home.
thank you for holding it for me! :DQuote:

Gaskets: block ->manifold
manifold -> turbo
turbo -> o2 housing
o2 housing -> downpipe
downpipe -> midpipe
not sure if i still need an oil cooler, i think i do though i have to figure out how to route the tapped oil pan to the oil cooler.
that's all i can think of for now.
don't know what this is, but i heard that i might need a "dump tube" as well (i don't know what this is :?
UPDATE: btw, the adapters just came in today....

depending on my schedule, i might get the injectors installed next week, we'll see. but yeah, those are the last few parts that i can think for now. the parts from the first page are already bought (at least the ones that came with the kit) if i'm forgetting anything, please do remind me, lol. thanks all
more to come soon.... :wink:
yes, and i do thank you for the gauge!! :smt023Quote:

the oil cooler is seperate from the oil pan
you would use the oil filter housing for inlet and outlet ports to hook the oil cooler to
the fitting on the oil pan is just to drain the turbo the oil goes from the feed line through the turbo out the drain line into the pan
i opted to get the transmission cooler over the oil cooler because if you use good enough oil and change it regularly it wont break down or overheat but the trans mission on the other hand you want as much protection for it as possible the cooler inside the radiator just isn't going to cut it long term but thats just how i thought about things
k, not really an update til i show the pics, but i just purchased underrated's IC piping on friday (gonna pst those pics when it comes in the mail). In the meantime, i was browsing around the turbo section for more info..the usual. I saw the link that seth98est put up for someone looking for a turbo list for their setup.
http://4g64.150m.com/turbo3.html
So i read it for a while and noticed that you can install the S-AFC as one of the "pre-mods" for the turbo, like how i have the fuel pump in now....before the actual turbo's on. (sorry, TOTAL noob moment :oops: :lol: ). anyways...i think that might be another install i do, right before the injectors go in, just gotta figure out how to install the S-AFC with the injectors, we shall see...
This thread is pushing me more and more towards tinkering with my engine and going turbo... sounds fun! Turbo + 20" rims??!!?!... lol
LOL 20" and turbo......... :lol:Quote:

the piping has a flange for your 1g BOV it places it down by the driver side fog light looks like this

big thanks to underated for the IC piping, maft and adapter :D
i have the S-AFC, injectors, and adapters on me currently, so i'm looking at a few forums and websites on how to install the S-AFC with the new injectors in... that might be sometime right before or after thanksgiving break...
more to come later :wink:
Eeeek. Wouln't use that pan, I'd be worried about the hose slipping off that "fitting". Id just pull your pan, tap it or weld a real barb fitting to it.
that's what i'm thinkin about doing... i'm a lil iffy about that tap and wanted to get opinions on it. i'm gonna see if i can find another stock oil pan and save it while i tap my current one.Quote:

mtcavity1's pan looks like a great job i would be worried about the other pan ripping a hole in your return line after awhile the edges look a little ruff
wow mtcavity, that looks way better. yeah, that'd be great if you could tap my oil pan (:smt011 :lol:)Quote:

Congrats man Welcome to the club... Cant wait to see your dyno sheet..
I am busy as hell up to December 29th, Christmas/Holiday parties 7 days a week.
I will check my schedual tomarrow and see if there are any early Sundays for me.
When are you done with school?
Hey If you need an extra pan, i have one, its in decent shape for $30. You can come pick it up, or if you want, give me $45 and I will ship it. Its a virgin pan, no fittings or anything. If you tell me the type of fitting you want, I can drill and tap it, or weld in a bung or whatever you need.
i'm done with school the 21st of december, finals is (i believe) the week before that...Quote:

that'd be great. i'm not sure what fitting i need though i have to check to see what would fit with the oil cooler package that i'm getting soonQuote:

Just let me know. Typically your oil return line should be at least double the size of the feed line. Your oil cooler setup has nothing to do with the return line. That adaptor you have sends oil to the cooler and back into the filter housing to get back to the motor.Quote:

im using a -10an for oil return. have fun making the SS lines! remember, to measure, and measure again before you cut. and when youre about to cut, measure it again. ive have to make my line about 3 times. :cry:
i used a 5/8th barbed fitting then switched to a -10an... i welded a 1/2npt female fitting to the pan so i could switch out fittings if i need too
I know what you mean Aaron.Quote:

Run, I would use either a -10 return line or 1/2" high temp rubber line and just tap a barb fitting into the pan like Mtcavity.
If your feeding the turbo from the sandwhich plate adaptor, I would use a -3AN feed not a -4AN. If you search around the DSM forums, anyone feeding from the filter housing or sandwhich plate who runs a full -4 line has problems in the upper RPM range with too much oil pressure and it blows past the seal in the turbo.
I am personally running a -4AN feed line, but where it enters the turbo, I have a -3AN reducer to restrict flow so I dont blow oil thru the seals. This may end up not being an issue for you since you still have balance shafts in your motor where as I dont and most built DSMs dont. Without the balance shafts im seeing alot of oil pressure. My Pressure sending unit is in the head and I have 12-15psi at idle once its warmed up. On my EVO motor I was seeing like 5psi at idle if I was lucky.
i think i might go with the -10AN return and -3AN feed line, i guess i have to do a 1/2npt fitting on the pan as well, unless there's other fitting that would go better with the pan....
are you gonna use a regular hose or a steel braided line?
what kind of fitting is on the return part of the turbo?
i'm gonna use a steel braided line, not sure what the fitting size is for the turbo, gonna check that later this week.Quote:

you dont have to do it but i put a 45 degree fitting in there to help with the draining
hmmm....haven't really thought of that. i guess i could go with a 45 degree fitting if its gonna help with draining
i thought that was already taken care of when the weld is put in :?
my downpipe had a wierd angle to it when i first did it your should be fine so you dont really need a 45* fitting

Keep up with the good work bro.
As I see on the pics you have a little crack on the wastegate. I hope is nothing serious
this is the type of fitting i had
http://himni-racing.com/index.php?ma...roducts_id=532
you will need something like this for the oil drain for the 14b (there are 2 different versions of the 14b center cartridge, you have to measure the spacing from the center of the 2 bolts)
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Funct...mZ160089657315
thanks, i noticed it as well. i hope that crack doesn't split open even more when installed and running :(Quote:
