Here is my first attempt at HDR. It sucks, but I'm going to keep reading and practicing until I get better.

Yeah, I tried it too but my pics came out like it would if I just adjusted the curves on the pic in Fireworks or Photoshop. I'm going to try again later when I reinstall CS3, but HDR is cool
ual good start. One thing you gotta watch out for is the sun glare. but good start
Someone should start a "Post HDR pics as your car sits now" thread. :)
Thanks Unlimited. I did a few more shots today. I have not had time to work on any of them except for this one. I know it looks fake, but I thought it looked cool.

yeah but most comes out like that which is cool.
i'm gonna have to come back to this thread when i'm on my computer.
i wish my walgreens camera can do that :(
I have been reading a few different tutorials today and they shoot between 5 and 6 photos and then merge them. Do you get more detail in the image using 5 or 6 photos rather than if you just used 3 different exposures? I cant tell how the quality of the pictures differ since I can only view these pages on my blackberry while I'm on the rode. I have been shooting photos all day while I'm stuck in this hotel. I should have a lot of pics to work on when I get back home.
I dont know about using 5-6 pictures you can try it and see how it comes out... i use a DSLR and shoot in raw mode, regular point and shoot cameras image processors usually mess up the the image of your going to make a HDR picture... when you shoot in raw mode you get much more detail... UAL Tripple 7 what kind of camera are you using.
You can use as many as 9 pic. You just use 9 different exposures. For the P&S guys, its easier if you shoot RAW then just change the exposure using the RAW software and save as giving you 3 or more exposures
i found the exposure thing on my camera but i cant scroll to it. anyone have any idea why? i just read the book but cant figure it out

color isnt kicking but i didnt want to over saturate.
i pm'd you but you have to put the camera in manual mode to access all the menu functions set the dial to the camera with the M next to it

I'm using a Sony DSC-H9 right now until I can buy a DSLR. I just got back from downtown Seattle and I took a ton of pics. I took a lot of pics on top of Queen Ann Hill of the city with the water in the foreground and the mountains in the background. I can't wait to upload them onto my computer and start merging them.
i cant figure out how to do the merge on photoshop
99galant, to merge, mind you im useing CS2, go to file>automate>merge to HDR
tomorow its supposed to be warm, so im gonna look for a hose and hose off my car, then hit up a parking garage and try to get an ok shoot done... im kinda jonesing... ive been having "photographers block" if you will, and one of my lenses broke :(
darn i dont have that choice. i have others but not the merge to HDR
Any pointers on how to make one with a single photo that was taken with a regular digital. I was trying to make copies with different exposures changed in photoshop then merge them, but photoshop said it wouldnt merge it.
if its not in raw format then its going to be hard to lower and higher the exposure.
raw format is about 15mb per picture so you dont lose any detail and makes it easy for a photoediting to match and mate the pictures.
you can use adobe lightroom to raise and lower the exposure then photmatix to merge them
Here are two pictures I shot using the HDR method. One was converted using CS3 and the other was done with Photomatix.

i cant do any of this bcuz i have regular photoshop :(
i have photoshop CS3 but is says my pictures don't have enough definition to merge to HDR
You can download a trial version of CS3 and Photomatix for free. Thats what I did. Here is a pic that someone on the R/C forum I visit posted. It looks pretty cool to me.
my second attempt, posting more sooner

whats the diff from CS3 or regular photoshop
i believe CS2 and CS3 have the HDR merging
Here is a link to a few of the pictures I worked on this evening. I was going for an off look with these. I did not want them to look real.

could someone mod one of my latest pics to come out like this? or would i have to give you the pictures at three different exposures or something?
yeah with a TRIPOD, if you are using a point and shoot camera, take 3 pictures in different shutter speeds, one normal, one dark, and one bright with the iso lower than 200
this all has to be done in your manual setting
